Demo bindings

What up everybody, first post

So I currently ride a pair of 2009 scott punishers with tyrolia sympro sp130 demo bindings. After doing a bit of research I realized these bindings have some big differences from others. Recently I have been trying to work on my park skills and am wondering if these bindings are holding me back at all. Am I just paranoid or would tearing these old bindings off and putting some squires on this bad boy make a difference?

I have been skiing for 20 year but am now just starting to get into gear specifics, so any advice would be helpful!

demo bindings are gonna be just as good if not better than squires. they are markers lowest end in the royal family and if youre older than 12 and not a midget youll most likely be too big or ski too hard for them. if you want to stick with marker look at the jesters or maybe griffons if youre lighter or go the look/ rossi route with px jibs/ axials or pivots, they all sound like a better option for you

ya, switching to squires is not much of an upgrade. and unless you always pop out of your skis or your bindings have ripped out, i doubt that the bindings are holding you back. they're just colourful!

What if i get the griffon's, will there be any noticeable diffrence? One of my thoughts was that on a demo binding the boot isn't flat on the ski and when i look at how the pros ride, they always seems to be bound in right up against the ski.

Yeah a demo binding will have a higher stack height. The higher the stack height, then generally the less stable the ski. It's like women with ridiculously high heels have a harder time walking. That's an exaggeration though. Wouldn't hurt to maybe step up to like an STH12, px12, or pivot 14, but if your stuck on the demo bindings, it's probably not the end of the world.

Oh and thanks for the replies! Also I am 5'7 145 lbs so i would take any suggestions on a good bindng for a guy who skis 60/40 all mtn to park

My vote would be for the STH12 drivers, but I've only ever owned these an a few marker system bindings. If I couldn't ride the STH12's I'd probably be trying out some Pivot 14's. good luck!

Eww those Ty demo binding are the heaviest and most retarded binding ever. The rental shop at wisp rents the same setup as you have. I mean it has flat head adjustment on the toe and Phillips on the heel, if that's not dumb idk what is... Get those things off!

thanks for the suggestions, im definitely gonna remount these skis with something better. Time to do a little shopping!

Yeah demo bindings will have a higher stack height and more weight. This makes you're ski typically stiffer than it needs to be. It also makes it less stable and most obviously heavier. Marker Griffons would be good, they're one (huge) step up from the squires, and have a pretty light weight given how beefy they are. In my opinion the Jesters are just too heavy for park, and a little unnecessary. Especially given your weight and height. Jesters are for like two hundred pound dudes charging lines in AK on 195 cm skis
