Delta lost my boots :(

So I flew out to Utah with my parents to shred for the next 4 days, and Delta lost my bootbag along the way. My favorite ever pair of boots, the 10/11 Full Tilt Booters, complete with $200 custom footbed, are suddenly gone the day before a trip I've been looking forward to all winter.

Long story short, after being offered a shitty rental and complaining for an hour or two, I got them to agree to pay for PART OF the cost of new boots. That's right, they lose my boots and then won't even buy me new ones. Ridiculous. I understand if they offered to pay for 80-90% of the retail cost, seeing as I am getting a new product, but they can not understand how crucial a dialed in boot is and how invaluable it is. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about, putting my foot into a boot that fits perfectly is better than sex in my opinion.

Anyways, for some reason none of the shops within 45 minutes of Canyons resort in Utah carry Full Tilts (according to the ski shop staff). I check around anyways, and they are correct. Except for one shop, which LITERALLY HAS ONE PAIR OF FULL TILTS FOR SALE. By some act of god these happen to be in my size (thank you Jesus!), but they are First Chairs and I really only fit into Booters. Whatever, I figure I will have to keep these boots for at least a year and I've grown to love Full Tilts so I get them. Guy was just as pissed at Delta as I was and even hooked me up with a deal. Got them heat molded and they sorta fit well enough to work. I skied on them today and know that they are just too small for my abnormally sized foot.

Sorry for the quick plug, but if anyone's looking to buy a pair of First Chairs in a 27.5, check my thread in BST. You have no idea how much it would mean to me. I'm literally so broke right now its not even funny.

Anyways, here's the real point of this thread: Has this ever happened to any of you guys? What did the airline do to remedy their error? Any advice for me to get them to be more accommodating?

From now on I'll always put my boots in a carry-on bag, and I strongly suggest you all do the same! Trust me, this is not a situation you want to have to deal with!

Just think about it. Which is rarer, a girl willing to have sex with you or a boot that fits you immaculately, with no pain or discomfort ever?

For me its the boot.

you seem like the type of person who would get pissed if their unlocked Maserati got stolen from inner city Detroit.

dude, shit constantly gets lost on airlines. when you gamble, you can lose. common sense.

It might take a while, but I think the boots will turn up. My dad is a pilot for Delta and the baggage tracking system they use is pretty advanced compared to other airlines. My skis got lost flying into portland and about two weeks later they showed up on my doorstep. I'm not guaranteeing anything, but all hope is not lost. Good luck!

Yeah the guy above me is right. Your shit isn't gone forever. My parents have lost bags alllll the time with air canada and usually 4-5 days later they get their stuff back. Now you might not get it back as fast but it isn't gone forever. Good luck with your stuff and try to have fun skiing.

ya just wait it out when my family took a trip up to alaska we checked 7 bags full of gear and sure enough when we get there not even one of the seven bags were there. two days later they were at our hotel. just gottta give it time man.

It's been said several times already, but I'll just say it again...

ALWAYS

CARRY-ON

YOUR

SKI BOOTS

FUCK AIRLINES REALLY FUCK AIRLINES

I had to pay 200 bucks in my way back to Chile from tahoe for the overweight of my ski bag...but seriously dude, your boots...CARRY ON every time...

that sucks dude, delta broke one of my surfboards one time, said theyd give me 600 to replace it, then they went bankrupt and I never saw a dime, shit was so weak

read the OP one more time. try to comprehend what was said in it. re-read your post.

fuck delta, they are the worst with luggage. Last year they lost my bag coming back from france. I had my life in that bag. I lost everything i loved most. I called delta about twice a week trying to figure it all out. I wrote a statement which was about 2500$ worth of shit. I got a check of 1400$ about 5 months after..

good luck with your boots and dealing with those fucks.

Similar thing just happened to me this week, United lost my ski bag on the way up to whistler for the week, Thank god I took my boots with me as a carry on. Still had to ride shitty fucking rentals almost the whole time up here, and United even agreed to pay for whatever the rentals costed me for the week

Turkish airlines lost my bags. The only way I got them recovered was my uncle worked at Toronto airport and he was able to personally go look for my shit. Once your bags enter that international lost luggage tracking system don't expect anyone to get off their ass and do anything about it.

Last year delta put my brand new armadas and boot bag with my tilts and 3 pairs of Oakleys on a plan to mexico city instead of on my plan to rochester ny where i live. granted it was on the way home. but they told me they had no clue where they were at first. the next day i got a call in the middle of classes and they told me that they had located the skis and bag (thank god) and then they COMPed my flight and gave me like 3 round trip flights for non weekend, non holiday flights. so turned out okay for me

It's like a black hole, nothing that goes in ever comes out. (disregard all wild theories regarding black holes being wormholes to other dimensions/universes)
