Delorme has saved us all.

I remember reading a rant by an older NSer a while back, saying he was disappointed in edits nowadays. How in his day, a new edit would cause a ruckus and get the entire community stoked on a new style or a new trick. He said that now, every edit that's put out is just another edit. Same old stuff never anything special. Well ladies and gentlemen of NS, I think it's safe to say that Adam Delorme and has changed that. If you haven't seen Walk in the Park Pt. 2, you should. I'm already incredibly excited for next season, and I see so many members getting psyched on this edit. Just like the old days.

As crazy as TGP 4 was, it wasn't anything really special. It was a bunch of spinning and pretzeling and occasionally doing both with a flip thrown in there. Ridiculous, but nowhere near as innovative as Real Skifi and the Delorme edit.

Though those are all great, this is just one video, not a series. This one single video has gotten so many people, myself included, psyched to ski.

cork 5 press is so sick. I keep getting random people who dont even ski or know what NS is sending it to me. you know its a good edit when it can reach a larger audience than just the hard core ski community. stoked for next season!!!

This edit gets me hyped not only because its so ill but because there have been rumors swirling all winter about how hard Delorme has been going filming this season with level 1. It's going to be a long summer waiting for the movie to come out.

It wasn't anything special??? Come on man you may prefer presses and butters or whatever but those guys changed the game and made new standards in term of technicality on rails. I think that everyone should be able to push the sport in the direction they wan't, Delorme is doing new stuff in terms of style and creativity, as others are pushing it the way they like. Can't hate on people bringing new stuff to the table

I remember that and remember thinking at the time this guy is stupid. Real skifi have been coming up with new stuff constantly and then in the last two weeks theres been mental footage of candide and then this adam delorme edit. Just cos there are more people doing season edits doesnt mean there arent still sick edits coming out

not really innovated, but mike hornbeck puts out banger urban shots every time i see him

Edits recently have been a bit like the music industry recently (bear with me, tldr at end).

I'm constantly being told that it used to be really difficult to record music, and that to record, release and promote your own music would cost tens of thousands of whatever currency you use. Now however, the equipment to record your music is far cheaper, and promoting on the internet is free. All the really good music from established, good, artists is still being made and promoted; but there is another layer of shit music that has emerged (just search for any classic rock band on soundcloud, listen to peoples 'remixes'). This has good and bad sides. The bad is that anyone looking for new music has to trawl through endless amounts of shit to find it. The good however is that if a young artist/band is good and persistent enough, they are far more likely to get noticed.

The same goes for ski edits. Awesome cameras are far cheaper. I paid £850 for a Canon 60D with four lenses and several other add-ons; and gopros are ridiculously cheap for what they can do. Also with a really easy hack (or torrents) anyone can have Adobe premiere (or any other software) for free. Both camera and software are really easy to use, so virtually anyone can create an edit. This has the same pros/cons as music - we have to wade through more shit/not-so-good edits, talented young skiers get to show off to us, and all the top skiers like Delorme are still making edits. Since only the upper-average plus edits make the homepage of NS, most of us don't have to do much wading through shit. Of course some edits that are 'top rated' are better than others. Some are pretty average, others are fucking incredible, but if everything was always the best we'd ever seen then wouldn't everything be average???

Tldr: Cheaper to make edits; therefore more edits; some are shit, others are incredible, most are in the middle; homepage only shows better-than-average edits; good for talented young skiers and other amateurs to get exposure; good for skiing.

And to be fair, I dont think he skied much during the summer, or at least I didn't see any edits of him, along with not too much last winter, he barely had a segment in the level1 movie. Plus, the edit was called lowered expectations....
