So i ordered a computer for school from dell, customized it and made it how i wanted and shit I did this like the second week of July... They said it would be here by the 10th. Last night i got home from work and looked around for a box that would have a computer in it. I eventually just figured that UPS was running slow and didnt get to my house yet so i wasnt worried. Then I got a call of a recored message that told me that it would not even ship untill the 28th. This is bull shit because I have to be at school on the 25th. FUCK DELL!

To people who have been in college: Would it be worth not having a computer for the first few days? Or should i cancel the order and drive the 2 hours one way to circut city to buy a computer that wont have everything that i want on it?
 
Don't buy directly from dell man. Check out tigerdirect.com or newegg, they have better deals and dell laptops. Or just go to the best buy/futureshop on labour day and get a deal.
 
my dell got backordered too and i wouldnt of gotten it before i went to college so i just went out and got a really nice HP
 
I used to have a Dell and they suck. I just got an HP for college and so far it is the best computer I have ever owned.
 
mine came pretty quick i ordered it like 25 of june and they said it would arrive on the 10th of july

and it got here on the 4th so...
 
when it does actually arrive your hard drive will probably erase itself within two weeks anyway. dells are pretty sick like that.
 
complain and tell them you want an upgrade, like a bigger monitor or more ram. If they say no, cancell the order tell them to go fuck themselves and go buy an emachines cheapo computer. Because if you are ordering a custom dell, chances are you don't need any more than a 1 gig processor, 256 ram and a 40 gig hd. I've owned a lot of different computers, and they all suck.
 
Hmmm...are you sure you didn't order some part of the computer that said "may delay ship date", because that might be the case...
 
yeah that could be true when i ordered mine it was gonna be 21 day delay just got the backpack that came with it...so i just didnt get the backpack
 
i've had my dell for 1.5 years, and only problem in the CD drive doesn't work, but the DVD drive does, which is weird cause its a combo drive...
 
i ordered my dell like the 22nd of july. said it was gonna ship the 7th. it got here the 8th. on the 11th, I'm in love with it. kthxbye!

oh ya, and the night i ordered it, I messed up the order, which resulted in me having to call dell twice in about a half hour, and both times it was fast and easy to sort the problem out. so from my experience, I like dell.
 
are you kidding me, we had to call dell the other day and it took 3 hours to get through, we had 2 phones calling too
 
hahah for a second i thought it was one of those flip the first letter things like pig benis which would be big penis i thought you were saying like sell ducks i dunno
 
fuck, i ordered a dell about 2 weeks ago and i go to college in 5 days. i know it wont skip by the time i go to college, so im having it shipped to my college. but it looks like im still a long way from having my computer. i wanted a macbook in the first place but my dad wouldn't get me one because he thinks they would be too hard for me to use. this sucks
