I dunno witch one i want. The ipod i heard doesnt work at the mountain good. I also would have to get the mini ipod. i dunno though

Dude, your not getting a Dell. Go with the ipod or wait for the new cheaper ipods that are coming out with flash memory.

 
dell = dirt cheap,

= barebones, not as cooll

ipod = cool factor plays in, more features, more accessories

= battery life is a prob, more expensive

its your choice man

in reply to my previous post...i just got an Ipod and its hella sweet. but the Creative Zen Xtra or the other Creative that goes for the same price as the Ipod are both really sick too. just go for somethin

I've used a Creative Zen Xtra for the past 9 months. It's just as flawed as the iPod (in terms of uploading music to it), but has a better user interface (playlist creation most noticably). Yeah, it's a bit bigger and isn't as 'cool' as the iPod, but do you care? It's a hell of a lot cheaper.

Mine freezes up occasionally now though, I'm trying to return it for an iRiver H340. FAR better player than either of those mentioned above, research it.

wow I was under the impression that the ipod mini was flash based since its release because they said no moving parts so I assumed no moving parts inside either. I did a quick google search and you are right it uses a Hitachi microdrive.

I can now say that I have learned something today.

 
I got my H340 a few days ago. It rules. Smaller than an iPod, no drivers/software necessary, and works as a USB host (European model only):

ipod all the way man i have had an ipod since they first came out they are the best and apple has the best care service. get apple care its worth the money. i love my ipod thats all i have to say

 
The shape is determined by the shape of the hard drive, so they're all pretty much the same. The control layout? I much prefered the button layout of the Zen - all on the sides of the unit, so you can have it in your back pocket with the buttons unlocked without risk of any being pressed when you sit down, and they were all very easy to find without looking. Once I get iRiver's new remote though, this won't be an issue.

 
Wow, iRiver actually ships it without an included remote? That's not like them...

Ipod fo sure.

you use 20gigs so quickly(actually 18.2gigs). And you may not listen to 1000 songs in a day, but you get sick of three or four albums pretty quickly. And if you ever go on a trip or what not you don't have to take your laptop with you.

 
thers a close out on the iriver right now at best buy i think. I didnt really like the controls of the iriveer. You've got to come up with your own personal opinions of these though without asking others 100%. Yes ask around but dont base it off your final opinion. For example many people say the mini ipod is enough space, but for my style of music, i cant see going with anything under 20gb, infact ive been looking at getting a 40 or even 60 gb player.

 
Creative make really good MP3 players, my 20GB touch is ace.

It does just as much as the iPod but is a lot cheaper..

get the ipod picture they are sweet if you have the dough. they can record movies and take digital high qualtiy pics.

i thought that they could only store them not take em? Plus y would u want that? Just get a real camera or use ur cellular, don't waste the money.
