Deleted Threads?

It seems that more and more threads are disappearing as of late. The "Does America Owe Black Americans an Apology" and the "JOCOB WESTER" threads seem to have been deleted. On what grounds are these threads being removed? I looked in the FAQs and I was unable to find any justifiable grounds to delete these threads. Nothing about either of those threads is inherently "vulgar or offensive".

Individual posts may meet deletable criteria, and should be dealt with...individually. There are countless utterly pointless and worthless threads created here daily that simply fade away naturally. If something is worth being discussed (determined by the amount and frequency of contributions), it should stay. Who deletes these threads and who do they answer to?

If I'm wrong about either of those two threads being deleted, I apologize in advance. In any case, arbitrarily deleting threads defeats the whole purpose of this site.

First, for some reason your writing is.. very pleasing to the brain?

And second, I second your statement. I'm sure the mods have their reasoning though.

^pretty much any thread about ninthward will get deleted because they always threaten to sue NS. that said, this post will probably get deleted shortly now, but that brogan thread was fucking hilarious i wish it was still here

I respect NS protecting itself against litigation...particularly when it comes to copyright infringement ala RedBull merchandise. But come on. I hate to play the first ammendment card, but who exactly decides which threads are inappropriate/unecessary and by what criteria? There's a fine line between sensible forum management and fascism. Ok, that's clearly hyperbole, but the fact still remains that some of the thread deleting is questionable at best.

I for one found the discussion in the "Black American Apology" thread interesting, if sometimes idiotic. The Brogan/Wester thread had a ton of potential to be hysterical. Why Ns?

Thanks, that was helpful. I may not agree with everything on that list, or agree that the deleted threads I referenced were indisputably in violation of those rules, but I don't run the show, now do I?

thats the beauty of NS those rules are there, but rarely enforced to that level until some mod has had about enough.. right or wrong.. it gives balance and lends itself to a more balanced moderation.

Sometimes threads are deleted at the request of the thread creator too.. Just something to think about.

It would be good to have that option, on the other hand it begs the question, "why was this thread locked" For as many threads are deleted, there are few instances of, "why" the wester thread is one of those instances.

I messaged the mod that deleted the thread and he said I could put it back if I wanted, I chose not to at that time, until the Wester website was announced.........

^^ word.. IPB boards have some good stuff. NS is all custom written as you are well aware. The "coders" are working off a priority list. I don't believe functions aren't a top priority right now.

i had a thread deleted the other day and i was just talking about this kids edit that i saw nothing bad at all. its lame
