Delammed skis

Just want to put this picture out there.... any recommendations? or just fuck it and get new skis, that's what I'm thinking...
 
bro. i justed fixed my asterminds this week! same issue. heres what you do. JB weld marine epoxy, 3 chicago screws at 1/4 inch. drill 3 holes in type, put epoxy in holes and all over the core where its delamened. epoxy the screws and put them in. wait 24 hrs. profit? i can try to get photos of the completed version of mine if you want

that would be tight! Crazy I never see anyone with masterminds idk if I even like mine anymore to be honest
 
Had you prepared them properly, this may have been less likely to happen. Then again you probably slammed the tip on a box or something.

Maybe you can't if you smack it too hard. Maybe the epoxy was bad from the factory.

What you do is when the ski is new is to round out the sidewalls to include the tips and tails if it is a sandwich type construction. I tried to show that from the above.

Here is another old video that may help you understand. The rounding will help prevent the topsheet from smacking. Go to 15:00 in the video for the extreme example of topsheet hanging out.

 
The masterminds are cap construction. It gets old how quick everyone on here is cite user error when their gear fails. Yeah I'm sure if he had shaved his non existent sidewall down they wouldn't have delammed.

Haha, thanks. If I watch 10 minutes a night, I'll have it finished next month. I've watched some of your other videos and they're all pretty great. I wish everyone in the Midwest was that stoked on skiing, stay rad!

Well actually there can be some work done on many cap skis. Especially at the tips and tails where the cap can extend over the edge steel.

I never said it can be totally prevented, I also said if one smacks it too hard......and that it might be due to bad epoxy work from the factory.

Any ski can fall apart if it is smacked hard enough.

I stated prior that "maybe"

I also provided a fix it video that is not from me.

User error? Is that the same as abuse, which is not covered under warranty?

Thanks man. I looked at the photo and thought it was a sandwich ski. My bad. Like I said above, many of those cap skis can benefit from some work tips and tails.

All that said....sh#t happens. I think you could epoxy them back together, or have a shop do it. It would be worth getting a quote for repair anyway. Will they last "forever"?

Of course not. Maybe get you through the season though for way less than another pair.
