Defective Latch on MacBook

It's starting to piss me off. When I first bought it in 2006 it had a latch problem. I was fixed, worked perfectly. A couple months ago I put it on my floor. I set the butt of it down, but then the front of it fell three inches to the ground. Now it doesn't even latch or stay closed any way. Does anyone else have this problem?
 
The piece that the hook latches onto fell off my powerbook, and I wouldn't pay to have it fix even though I never dropped it or tried to pry it open. Very interesting though, and am glad they don't use the latch anymore
 
the hole below the trackpad, you might also be able to go in above the button. I've solved latch issues on both powerbooks and macbooks that way.
 
new macbooks? you said you got yours in 2006, The macbook I did it on was a friends, it's deff not more than a year old
