Decambering skis!!

maybe its farenheit? that would make more sense, thats 93 C, ill post pics once im done (tomorrow?) and ill be dual cambering them

Why would you want to decamber a park ski? Having flat or rockered skis only helps in powder; it will reduce the stability of a skinny ski like that dramatically if you ever touch hardpack or groomers.

flip:

Oh, I'm not making a judgement about what the right amount of camber is... I'm just saying don't start cooking your skis.

Cooking your skis isnt a good idea, period.

i dont think heating is a good idea your skis will probably delam, another thread over on TGR showed a guy who stuck the tails of his skis in between his stairs, the kind to a basement that are all wood and have the spaces inbetween the steps, then rapped a rope around his tips and tide it to his tips and left it there for a week or something, idk search for it on tgr seems like a better idea

So, if it is better, could you state the positive benifits for having a park ski with negative camber? Please, i would love to hear them.

i dont think its his park ski. they are the hellbents which is a pow ski that he uses for park cause hes rebellious.

a zero or reverse camber in the park would give you no pop and landings would probably be dangerous/unstable to say the least, Im gonna go ahead and say this isn't something the average skier, or even the bulk of pro park skiers are going to do or should do... when skis lose their camber they are dead... lifeless and no fun, to me anyways because I live on the EC...

My Lines from a couple of years ago have reverse camber in the tips because of so many nose butters and hard landings.

exactly. just `caus Pep does it doesnt mean you can too. theres a reason he is a godly pro, and your trying to cook youe skis to be like him. rocker isnt a good thing for park. yes, there are some places with you could play with them and have some fun, but for the most part, it will just make it much more difficult.

PS, cooking your ski like that will cause it to delam. dont do it.

i did it, it worked pretty well but im too afraid to ride them, they feel like there going to snap cause there so soft, definetly dont try it on a ski with a foam core

i had decambered park skis, they ski like shit. no pop, wash out on landings really easy, the only advantage is buttering and pressing.

they were fujatives, and i happened naturally, probably from me buttering a bunch and pressing. they became reverse camber. also once this happens your skis are super weak, mine broke while landing a little bit forward on a misty 5.

well if someone does do this please tell me how they ride im interested but i think they will ride like crap well do it and make a thread about it i guess

Yeah, those were the old Atomic Powder Plus, they have a metal sheet in them, that's why they hold shape of you bend them, probably not going to work on most park skis, but you could try.
