Debate: The Greatest Ski of All Time

i also thought of some thalls i had from about 2008 but i think we have to take it back to the original ar5 from early 2000s. started a movement and an entire generation of newschoolers

Most fun park ski I've ridden is easily the THall, plus the top sheets are sweet

Gotta be the Black Crows Anima for out west. Enough camber to carve, burly charger, still got soft enough tails for manuals and surf moves. I ride the 2018s but the 2017s definitely had the sickest graphics. Bummed they’re making them stiffer for 2021.

Something by Line, people will hate but they have probably changed skiing and skis more than any other brand.

Either the SFB or the Pescado.

Bacons are great for all mountain and the Pescado is single greatest powder ski ever imagined.

Honorable mention: Moment Bibbys

Line chronic cryptonite. Have a pair from a ski swap and taft came through and will wesson and andy parry both commented on how awesome they were and thats good enough for a scrub like me

I will shamelessly say that the J Skis Metal is my favorite, and most versatile ski ever (I live in WA). Haters will hate on J, but the metal shape is like a slightly more directional Bacon, and the metal laminate actually makes it more versatile for larger charging-focused skiers like me.

As someone who grew up skiing the PNW I can attest to having skis that are basically tanks. Once that wet cement powder gets tracked out its a hell of a ride to fight through that stuff.

Rossignol sickle, not the best ski in any particular condition but very good in almost all conditions.

runner up: original full rocker cochise

currently made skis: I’ve really really enjoyed the vision 118 and it will probably be my go to soft snow ski next year.

So i think the best ones are hg Keegan pros

Salomon suspect 2012

Rossignol S7. The honeycomb makes the ski 76% lighter and it has this new thing called rocker - every rental employer

Is rocker what its called when the core laminates eat shit and the ski explodes?

rossignol is going to go bankrupt

as for best ski id say something by volkl. Theres alot of good volkls to choose from though

My smaller buddies love the flex of the bacon though, really can't go wrong with a nice twin in the 105 range

Honorable mention goes to the Volkl Bridge (2011 redesign version)...incredible park ski that absolutely railed carves, loved those. Probably the best east coast ski of all time

I'm gonna have to check these out

For being exceptionally good at what they were / are supposed to do, from what I've tried:

Moment Bibby / Wildcat

OG Blizzard Cochise & Bodacious

OG metal Katana

Rossi Black Ops 118

Rossi Sickle

Line Sick Day 104

Salomon MTN Explore 95

Nordica Enforcer 100

hiya - yes I know his work. He's an amazing designer. Love that French aesthetic. Also his approach. to design - it's all properly concept based. Did you read his rationale for the BC logo?

Yeah, the 6 crows representing the freeski community.

(but the fact that he plays bike polo is fucken sick)

This and the Rossi Scratch in a close second place. These skis changed the game and made all park skis possible today.
