ok. So there's the instructor that i knew at my home club ( Caledon Ski Club) last thursday they were having some sort of get together (the instructors) and he dranks a few.. but then theyall decided to head over to Erin to the pub for a few more.. then after that trhey all wen to another instructor's house to drink even more.. (caledon's instructor parties are known to be incrediably wild crazy and get alot of very very drunk people.) so anyways, after all this he decided to drive home.... on his way he lost control hit a huge tree made it crash over the road. his car fell down a 20 foot cliff and the car burst into flames and he was burnt so badly the investigators couldnt tell whether or not he was male or female..

hes dead and has left behind his Girls Boardercross gold medal team... A lone Father, and friends...

He has also now put the club in the position of not being able to allow any sort of drink on the property.... because he started his night drinking there...

its a great loss but people who drink and drive make me mad.... i tihnk in a way he had it comming... but he was so smart. and talented with a great coaching career before him...

one time my dad was really drunk and he fell asleep and drove into a ditch, and smashed his face on the steering wheel, he smashed his cheek bones and tore his lip, but he didnt die

that stuff scares the shit out of me

that sucks so much, real sorry aye. Drinking and Driving is just so bad, people should really think of the consequences of things like that before they even consider doing it, it's crazy.

I hate people that drink and drive it is one thing that really makes me mad. I have come as far as a fist fight with a drunk friend of one of my room mates cause he wanted to drive home. I've also called the cops on people that have left my house drunk. Dummy up and take a cab.

I hope you're okay Cryss, thats really bad. Lots of people die out here because of drink driving. It is such a waste of life.

First of all, sorry to hear that. But to say he had it coming to him is not being respectuful. There are tons of different scenarios he could have been in that would have caused him to not know what he was doing. Have you ever been SO drunk you just have no control or don't remember how you got home? In which case it would be the fault of his friends for not recognizing that. Or he could have sobered up enough to be fine and it just so happened that a deer maybe ran in front of him and he lost control trying to avoid it. Your right, he could've just made a stupid choice. But you have to consider other possibilities. The loss of life is a terrible thing indeed. But then begins another...

yea i dont think its fair to say he had it coming to him though.. some of his friends should have helped him sober up so he could drive home, or take him home, or let him sleep at the house.

Ya, sorry to hear that...

But talking about drunk driving, I think its so stupid that we always talk about not drinking and driving, but never about smoking weed and driving. I might take some heat for this one, but please don't toke and drive either. It's nearly as bad and it's not a big deal to get someone else to drive, or even take a cab.

Hm,mm... what to say. I actually blame it on the friends. It is possible that he was too smashed to think coherantly and makle a logical decision. The friends shoulda stepped in and done something. Sad tho.

yeah, skierx, i have been wasted and stopped from driving a lot. One of my real close friends got into an accident and broke her arm. After that, I will never drive drunk, and will never let anyone drive drunk. It pisses me off soooooo much when drunk people hurt others, it is so fucking selfish and inconsiderate

as stupid as drunk driving may be, why in the hell would you call the cops on your friend? how does that help the situation at all?

 
because I could be the one walking along when I get plowed over by some drunk ass that didn't listen to their friend and take a cab or stay on the couch. They know that drinking and driving kills innocent people and that it is preventable so if they aren't going to crash on the couch or take a cab I'll call the cops. On another note if someone gets drunk at your house then goes out and smashes into somoeone else and kills them or even just seriously injures them you are liable. Not only are you liable for the person that gets injured but the drunk driver as well so you can be sued twice that means your life goes down the tube for the actions of someone else. So the way I look at it is if they aren't going to worry about me I'm not going to worry about their drivers license. At least no one dies that is if the police catch them before they kill someone. if I threatin to call the cops it makes them think twice before leaving and if they leave and get caught that will make them think twice the next time they decided to drive drunk. So yes I do think it solves something.

i guess i can understand your reasoning, its just that i would never kick my friends in the ass like that.....losing your liscense is a big deal.

now if its people that arent your friends, i can understand maybe calling the cops then.

Ickyy, you have balls to do the right thing, and I respect you for that.

About the 'Don't smoke up and drive,' they can't really say that, because you aren't supposed to smoke up in the first place. They can't have add campaigns that say 'Say Nope to Dope, but if you do say yes, don't drive.'

I've never actually called the cops on a friend cause they know when I'm not kidding around it was one night that my room mates had some dudes over and they all got up to leave and I wasn't havin it that is the only time i've ever done it.

what worse, your friend losing his licence and hating you, or having that friend kill someone (or themselves)? A DUI is a lot less worse than a manslaughter charge, even if they hate you for it.

So yeah.... on friday i walked into school late (i had a doc appt) and i get to my locker start taking off my jacket (looking at all my ski pics of me and the guys and some of my horse) and i see my friend Andrea run down the hall crying, with another friend on her tail too(also crying) and they run into the bathroom. and im like... ok..... and close my locker and go downstairs (i didnt want to intrude on something ., thats why i didnt go into the washroom) and during the following period (which i skipped) i saw numerous people balling their eyes out... and by then im like. ok i ahve definatly missed something here... so i stop this girl i know Tasia and im like. ok why is everyone crying.. and shes like.. well u know Tina (girl in a class i had last semester) i said yes.... she said 'well... she walked into her garage this morning. and found her father in his car with his throat slit open.' ok this doesnt happen in my town.... this is scary... last i heard no one knew if it was a murder or not.... but like... oh man... if i found someone i loved dead i couldnt handle that.... im not that strong... THis is soo awefull..

yea driving high i dont think is bad but driving drunk is not good, its pretty damn dumb but everyoen still does

sorry to hear that, my dads cousin got killed by a drunk driver and as bad as it is that he died at least he didnt crash into some family or something....

 
That is really scary. It's always horrible to hear stuff like that.

How do you figure driving high is okay??? It slows down your reflexes and messes with your perception. Definately not okay in my books. When I was in highschool 5 guys died in a 4 car accident and the driver that caused it was high.

And girljib8er said i right. DUI or DWI is wayyyyyy bettr then having them dead or in prison for the rest o thier lives. I don't think I could live with myself knpwing that i didn't stop someone from killing themselves or another.
