i smell a political debate

Whenever I see an old lady slip and fall on a wet sidewalk, my first instinct is to laugh. But then I think, what is I was an ant, and she fell on me. Then it wouldn't seem quite so funny.

2cents first off bush doesnt come up with ideas like this. he isnt that smart...he just relays the message as a figurehead. i personally dont think coal is the way to go just because the emissions are so bad for the environment. australia and china would be nowhere without coal however. i remember reading somewhere that coal could provide us with energy for another 200 yrs tops.

fuking jessica simpson is smarter than this douche bag.

this is the idiot that wants to get rid of the fillibuster? what a fucking asshole. i cant believe that hes our president. total shit face.

I dont like george bush really at all but i am totally for getting rid of the fillibuster. I mean do u even know what it is? Its the stupidest, most childish thing ever, and the senate should not be allowed to do that gay shit just to not let the other side talk so they can win.

I ski at the crappiest hill ever...

what about him? this is the guy that says that the us should be the only country with veto power.. so what does that mean? the means that the us controls the un even more than it does now. this guy also said that the un is worthless and hes gonna be representing our country. this just tarnishes our image more

I admit he's pretty stupid, but think of how hard it is to run a country. especially the most powerful country in the US. I don't think it's possible to do it flawlessly

V-TOWN Bitches!

hahahahahahhahahah. But seriously, Bush has taken money out of researching hybrid cars, and now he says that coal is the way to go. WAY TO GO YOU MORON.

His defense of the No Child Left Behind Act was absolutely pathetic. Something to the effect of..."We know it's working, cause we're testing to see if it's working." Hmmm, that doesn't really give us any information, which I suppose is his objective. Bullshit the idiots and avoid telling the truth to those of us waiting to hear it.

He wouldn't be in office if it weren't for his daddy. It sounds simple, but think about it: all of his "achievements" have been handed to him. He doesn't have what it takes to be president and his approval ratings, as they slip lower and lower, reflect his incompetence and his failures.

He is such an easy target too. It's like Rollins says: "Everytime this guy opens his mouth he just serves himself up to me."

It's really hard to stay positive about this guy because every action item he has turns out to be outrageously controversial. I don't know how compasionate conservatism can divide the people if it's as effective as it's supposed to be.

The only thing I agree with Bush on is his stance on the 2nd Ammendment.

Oh hahaha, on a side note, this t-shirt is hilarious.

he wasn't reelected because of his daddy

If he wouldn't have been elected the first time, via his social status, he wouldn't have had the opportunity to run again. Kind of a moot point.

but he was reelected, and by a clear majority, if he won, unmerited on his father's coattails, he wouldn't have gotten reelected

"but he was reelected, and by a clear majority"

49% to 51% may be enough to win (what you call "clear") but that means HALF of the people that voted didn't want him back. That is not "clear" in my opinion. Technically, you are correct, but I have beef with the electoral system in general, which we don't have to discuss.

"If he won, unmerited on his father's coattails, he wouldn't have gotten reelected."

He didn't win because his father was the president, he won because he embraced conservative values and was given the opportunity to become president because his father was president. His opportuntiy was because of his father, which lead to him being the candidate, who all republicans then voted for (the first time) because he followed party lines.

His father didn't win him the presidency, but it got him close enough to bullshit enough people into electing him. Had he been born to your father or mine, he wouldn't be in office.

we got the OC as scheduled here in canada thank goodness no dumb bush speech. He made that point about 'coal is the future' a couple days ago though cause jon stewart was carving it huge on the daily show last night (the 27th). coal the future? ok fred flintstone. fuck he's a mess.

For perhaps the first time in a political thread, this statement:

I agree with both Melvs, and BigJ.

The coal thing was hilarious (especially since he's played that card before), and yes, better things are available to drink... and avail myself of the opportunity to drink them, I shall.

It's called a check and balance you twat brain.

A filibuster protects the minority's right to blockade legislation it feels is damaging. Besides, its hardly used, usually only in extreme cases - its success requires a large coalition within a party to agree on and participate in one. And in the case of Bush's potential Supreme Court appointment... a filibuster is most assuredly required - did you read last week's Sunday Times?

the fillibuster is the only thing in the government anymore that shows that any americans have a shred of a sense of humor left. you had to be fucked up to come up with that torture period and i think its funny as hell. that one guy read the dictionary out loud for 24 hours. (not to mention the systen works pretty well. and not to mention the Prez can always pocket veto something)

well i like the fillibuster too and so did jon stewart and he's a good source for news so - you're ok , you can say you know politics.
