Your JJ is perfect (IMHO), so thanks for that. Now it's time to make a narrower version of it. Keep everything the same, but just make it about a cm narrower across the board. Please?!
 
But then I wouldn't be supporting a core brand. Salomon doesn't need my business - they're good selling gaper shit to gapers.
 
Haha ok then mate. Salomon are a great company. They invest more money into development then most brands and are arguably the best boot brand. But yeah I guess they don't make tall t's so they can't be that core can they.
 
Tall tees have nothing to do with it. No disrespect, but I'm impressed by Armada and their ability to create such a masterpiece. Therefore, I would prefer to pay it forward and show some loyalty to a brand which is 100% committed to the creation of the types of products I'm interested in.
 
I was joking about tall t's mate. But at the end of the day you asked for a ski which salomon make. So although you may like a brand (and I get it I love armada and would ride nothing else in the past) not skiing a ski which is just what your after just because it's from a brand you view as uncool is pretty stupid. At least give it a try. Or if salomon really is just too cool for you try the Rossi soul 7. Similar feel to the jj with a little less tail rocker.
 
True - I've heard nothing but great things about the Soul7, but the tail locks in the turn a but too much like the Armada TST does. I'm looking for a loose tail just like the JJ, but on a ski that I can manage on any given day. The JJ's are not the best option when I'm rocking the rope tow with my five year old. The TST was almost perfect, but the tail isn't quite as nice as what I'm ideally looking for. I guess I'm just super surprised that Armada hasn't made the ski I'm describing. Other than Salomon, is there anyone else? On3p must have something similar. Lastly, one cm will make a huge difference in weight and in usability, without question.

Nordica makes better boots then Salomon could ever dream of making. Not mentioning they're whole line up of skis feel like they're going to fall apart after 2 months.
 
you are just wrong... Salomon boots are just as or more high quality than nordicas, my previous spks lasted 3 seasons of 70+ days. Just cause you had a pair of SPKs that didn't fit (im guessing here) you shouldn't discredit the whole brand. Also Alex rode pro pipes for two seasons and you know how hard he skis. Their bindings are also the shit.
 
Nordica make some good boots that is for sure but they are not close to salomon at present. Salomon have got boo t's spot I at the moment with the custom shell. The Xpro is selling stupid amounts. And with the new custom shell park and freeride boots next year they really will have the boot market pretty well covered.

Ski wise yeah they had issues 5-6 years ago but recently especially there freeride skis have been great. May be time to try them again if you haven't for a while.
 
I don't know, I just feel like the SPK 100 has cheap feeling parts, no replaceable heel/toe sole and a pull cord that constantly gets in the way. They're a heavier boot, and the 2 buckle system doesn't hold an ankle down properly. I didn't say a word regarding bindings, it's one of the few things in my eyes they produce that work fairly welll. Guardians/Trackers are definitely a sturdy touring binding. I do hope however next years SPK replacement Ghost will be a much "nicer" boot, and the Quest's touring mode won't be as flimsy.
 
I'm trying to think what else you can try if you really won't give salomon a try. The other ski I would say that fits your requirements would be the white dot director. It's a super fun little ski. I was even considering it as a park ski even though it's 107 underfoot. Have a look at those maybe.

From other brands it gets tougher. Atomic currently don't really have anything which is like a narrow jj. The new blog may be more like it but it's more a tst style. Line don't really have anything either. The closest would be a sick day but there not twins. You could try a sfb as goku suggested but it's totally differnt. Head don't really have an equivalent ski neither do nordica.

As for the indie brands like on3p I can't really comment. I have never seen a on3p ski at a demo anywhere which is a real shame. If love to try them but never ever get the chance.

So yeah if you really want a narrow jj currently the salomon is prob your best bet. However there is a new ski coming from armada which may be just what your after. I don't work for armada so don't want to say too much but you may well like it.
 
Just regarding the spk. It does have replaceable heel and toes and if your getting heel lift it's not to do with the two buckles. The 2 buckle is te same as any overlap boot just with the toe buckle removed an a larger cuff buckle. Removing the toe buckle will have zero effect on heel hold. If your having fit issues it's exactly that, a fit issue an is not related to the fact there are only two buckles.

What issues do you have with the new quest hole mode btw? There were issues with the old shell but with the new max shells I have seen no issues at all.
 
Ha... Despite what you might think based on NS's perception of Nordica, they are doing quite poorly in the boot game at the moment. The Firearrow series has destroyed their reputation and their actual sales, cutting their overall unit sales by half. The Nordica/Tecnica family is pretty much scrambling to stay relevant at the moment.
 
haven't tried the jj but i have the magic j and it is sex. the solomon rocker 2 is possible the worst ski i have ever road . its shit. tip rocker is to low i shovel and release every little pillow of cliff its sucks cock on groomer that ski just sucks massive dick
 
that is quite the claim there.. From what ive seen, the Nordica fam is really struggling with getting boots out to more advanced non-racers, but in the park they only needed a change in graphic and crowds of people started to notice how sick they were. As far as Technica's go, I can agree its lost quite a bit of popularity but that is probably because they dont really change things up very much but they definitely have killer boots.

To the OP: take a look at the on3p Jeffrey/jeronimo, moment pb&j/deathwish, line sfb, k2 shreditor 102, etc. There are lots of other skis like what you're looking for that aren't made by armada.
 
Love how the OP doesnt rate solly yet they are part of the group that makes Armada's skis, suggests he does some reading on the Amer sports group. Solly + Atomic (who make Armadas skis) All the JJ etc are the Atomic and solly freeride stuff without the cool stuff like the SPB's and hollowtech. Armrada are just a creation of some marketing and a lot of brand tax imo.
 
You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. "They only needed a change in graphic" half of their boot line has been black the past couple of years and Nordica boots have never pleased me. The center buckle on most of their boots is right over the flex point of your foot/ankle and makes it painful to ride.
 
1 cm = 10 mm. Ski width is measured in mm, not cm.

I'd say you must be the one who is high, but it's much more likely you're just really stupid.
 
I'm currently on some Nordica Ace of Spades from 2 or 3 years ago, and I love them super comfortable and the middle buckle doesn't cause any pain and holds my heel firmly in place.
 
I'll have to check out both offerings from on3p, but they are hard to find for demos, etc. The most redeeming quality about the JJ for me is, that although a big ski, it does not feel hefty, nor does it ski like a bruiser. Weight is one of my #1 reasons for posting this thread. The TST is almost what I want, but won't offer me the loose tail. The Solly rocker2 108 weighed quite a bit in the hands today at the shop (I have to admit that might be unfounded). On3p offers a tour build spec which would for sure lighten up the ski, so I'll have to find out when I can try a pair.
 
What armada really should change is how they press their skis/change the glue they use. I owned a pair of thalls for 4 years with no problems but I go to ARVs and delaminate all the tips just after the warranty expires and delaminate under the nose of my bindings. They ski great but they definitely changed some things from how they use to press their skis in austria.

I did ride them hard just pissed of that I came to expect the same level of durability I had on my thalls.
 
ARV are full sidewall. Unless he's talking about the new ARVti, which is AR50 - though he's not since the warranty would not be expired since they've only been for sale since August.

Last years suspects were shit. My friend has them and I kid you not on the 2nd day of park the top sheet started chipping, on the 5th his edge cracked and soon after that they tore out
 
The edge pull out I'd unlucky but come on top sheet chipping and edge cracks will happen to any ski. I also had suspects last year and the year before that and other then a few edge cracks they held up well. We also only warrantied one pair last year which was a rail impact issue and guess what they got a new pair, even though they had been used on rails. That is one of t he bonuses to buying big brand. They have much more Lee way to replace skis then small brands. Did your friend try to warranty them do you know?
 
I had the full sidewall arv. Don't get how dolo can wreck house on arvs but mine started to degrade after day 20.
 
Because dollo does not care if he delams a pair. The cap/sidewall is great though. Cap makes sense for tips and tails to keep swing weight down Nd help prevent delams but having sidewall underfoot is a must.
 
maybe because he is jesus on skis? but seriously, you'd be shocked seeing the difference between what a pros ski vs. avg park skier's skis look like over the same period of time... learning to land a little more gracefully onto rails goes a long way
 
Thanks. I try to give honest advice regardless of any brand connections. The rocker 108 is pretty much exactly what he wanted so I recommended it. If you can think of a more suitable ski please post it up.
 
No I do not think he tried the warranty ill tell him about that, thanks! and you do have a good point. But I'm talking like chipping down to the wood. I know it's mainly cosmetic, but still. And literally ln his second day a good couple square inches chipped off.
