Dealing with gaper siblings

Does anyone else have siblings that are total gapers?

yes, unfortunately... my little sister shes only been skiing a handful of times but when she goes all she does is scream pizza and french fries at the top of her lungs. She then keeps her lift pass on her jacket until it falls off.

My cousin has horrendous sty. He's about 8 years old but still. I partially blame the parents and to let them know, I punched him in the throat like 10 times until he couldn't breath. That'll show them for getting him orange light tinted Carrera goggles.

My dad is quite the gaper, but when I don't have any friends at the mountain I ski with him because he buys some of my equipment and he thinks the whole concept of free skiing is cool

my little brother whos 7 was but me and my older brother pimped him out by buying him some baggy stuff and new helmet

My sister (9 years old) has only been out a couple of times with me. But I have to say they are some of the most memorable days of skiing I have had.

its even worse when your sibling races. Thats even worse then dealing with gaper siblings. If you have gaper siblings then maybe you're not a good sibling and helping them out by teaching them tricks.

Nope, my brother is a nordic skier and usually only alpine skis when he comes out West, but somehow he still rips. He's obviously not at the level of people who ski all the time, but he definitely knows what he's doing out there.

My brother just got all of my old stuff. He literally decided to wear everything I had including facemasks and gloves. Its pretty funny to look at him as the 11 year old self I used to be.

then you were the gaper?

I don't think so...I mean from the ages of 3-8 maybe, if that even counts. My brother taught me park etiquette the season I was 9/10. So I was never one of those obnoxious gapers in park. At least I don't think I was. Then I raced for a couple years. So I had decent form and skied well for that age. Maybe I looked like one but I really don't remember.

Overall though I think my brother did a really good job at making sure I wasn't a gaper/didn't look like one haha. Big thanks to him for that actually.

My little brother is the raddest dude out. He's 11 and skis like a lot of kids his age but I've tried to do a good job. He's actually pretty good skiing switch through some gapers on sunny side at Alta. I can't blame him for his red spyder jacket or outerwear choices because they're my parents and quite frankly when you're that young you don't really give a shit about what you look like as long as you're warm. He's down with the butter (when others butter) and staying on the top of your boots though. If its a powder day I can usually talk him into hitting reasonably sized stuff. He'll even give some steezy as fuck eagle arms sometimes after he hits a drop and lands clean haha. He hasn't landed a 360 yet but is always eating it and not giving up. He's gonna get it soon. He knows what a gaper is so I wouldn't define him as a gaper haha.

not necessarily siblings but skiing with my schools ski team makes me cringe every time I see them. So many bolle goggles...

My cousin from LA came up to visit. Decked him out in my old FD setup, was the gangest mane out there. massive gaper crisis averted

After quickly realizing my 11 year old little brother was a total gaper, I pushed him off the lift so that he wouldn't pass on his gaper genes and taint the family name. So I guess you could say I dealt with it.

After I saw my five year old brother with a goggle gap last season, I bought him a complete new setup. Obermyer bibs and jacket, poc receptor bug, kids oakleys, and now he's the only kid under 10 at my mountain who can hit the 10-15 ft. Jump line and he carves better that most the race team.

haha i ski with my dad all the time and he looks like a gaper, but can really throw a mean switch 3. hes 50 btw.

My dad is terrifying. He used to ask what I wanted to go down and follow me. He still does but I keep us on blues these days. You're pretty sure he's going to go off the trail then some how makes a terrifyingly sketchy turn only to repeat the whole time down. Sometimes catching an edge in said sketchy turn and having to take a round two right before the end.

Him and my sister had to get carted off the upper mtn at gore back in the day. I was like 7or 8. Ski patrol found me on the flats below cloud and stopped me to make sure I was alright and told me they would be waiting for me at the bottom. LOL. Got down and wasted the end of the day waiting for them. Went through the pipe might have done a round on the double to hit the pipe again and then looked everywhere for them.

Stupid patrollers just didn't see my steeze. Ihad gone down 3/4 of icy chatemac, up the quad and bombed down cloud was almost to the triple probably before they even got the snowmobile up to them. But I was little and believed everything authority figures told me and thought they'd be there.

WHY WERENT YOU THERE.

I haven't slept in a while if you couldn't tell.

my dad used to be a massive gaper from like 1970-2012. but then, i gave him one of my jiberish hoodies, my oakley goggles, and some rockered pow skis. sorta taught him how to hit boxes.

he's 60.

That is the most awesome thing ever. Just gave my dad some ft's for christmas so yeah haha

me and my sisters gaped it up hard when we were little, but they became racers and are now phenomenal skiers. One sister coaches racing part-time in Michigan and my other sister coaches for the freeride team here.

My brother, who is 11, just got into park skiing last year after snowboarding. I gave him some of my saga stuff I didn't use and made sure he looked okay. I taught him the basics and now the kids doing well.
