Deadmau5 at the vmas

Well yeah there are plenty that have done that. My point was just that it seems selfish, does it not, that you would want them to stay underground and not be as successful as they could be if their shit became widely recognized?

Personally I like to be around people who find their music. Theres obvious passion for it that way. Mike Posner is a talented man and puts his heart into his music, however most of his fans are numb to that

I don't know what the VMA's are, some girl had her facebook status as that, so I said "Virgin Mary's Asshole"

Then she started talking to me, we skyped, now shes coming over, meaning sex.

Because of the VMA's, I am getting sex.

you're either misinterpreting me or twisting my words around. i 100% want a artist to become successful and get recognition, if they deserve it. im just saying that songs wouldn't be the same if every man and his dog knew about it, and you heard it on the radio every 5 songs. that would be the only reason i would want someone to stay 'underground'. that may sound a little hipsterish...

Just because a genre gets recognition or becomes mainstream doesn't mean every artist of that genre will still get played out. Rap is mainstream now, but there are still great artist out there that fewer people know of. Same would go for electronic music, it would open it up to more people on a mainstream level and those who took interest would still go find the lesser known stuff.

I like sharing music and listening to stuff with other people, and the more people who get turned on to more genre's, the more people I will get to share the music with.

didn't watch, cool i guess, but deadmau5 has been out there a while now, he had that song for that mtv show, not the biggest fan form that point forward. listen to glenn morrison, same label as deadmau5, yet to sell the fuck out

I think it's good that he's getting his recognition, he produces awesome stuff and it's about time he gets paid off for it.

On the downside, I'm not looking forward to everyone gawking about the awesome, new, techno artist, "Dead-Mow-Five".

Semi-unrelated: I want to hear a remix of Aiko Aiko by the Dixie Cups.

did you know glenn morrison looks like a movie star. im blanking out on his name, but i think he was in the show friends?

not glenn, but the guy he looks just like.

glenn morrison - hydrology

glenn morrison - contact

glenn morrison - no sudden moves

3 great songs to start out with if you like DIDDYMAU5

At least I can find solice in the fact that livetronica will never find "popularity." There is a MASSIVE scene in CO, and you see the same people at all the shows, but you will never hear STS9 or EOTO or Big Gigantic on the radio, it just ain't gonna happen, but it is such better music than stuff like deadmau5 or rusko.

i could not agree more. the music scene for electric/dance/trance/house/techno music in boulder is huge right now but you never hear anything unless you go to the bars/clubs/red rocks. Big Gigantic is the fucking tits. everyone should check them out.

this is some good electro/techno.

yes I live in europe (Ialy). You can go in clubs and drink alcohol legally with 16 like I am :D.

All they play is electro/techno/house and at some clubs D&B and Dubstep or Goa(at festivals)...

In good clubs they play better electro/techno etc. than this but they dont publish it.

I don't think dubstep is the best electronic music but it's starting to get pretty big. I would much rather play dubstep than what most people are listening too, especially if it turns them on to more electronic. Good dubstep is actually pretty sick but like 99% of the songs suck

Since we're on the topic of Deadmau5, does it make me a true fan that when I look at the cover of my ChemCom book, he comes to mind?

I've never understood the process of claiming you are a true fan because you listened to them before mainstream and then getting pissed when they start to become more popular...

something so stupid to get upset about.

Honestly, its because some of us want to have a real conversation about the music. When stuff isn't so popular, you know that anyone who actually knows the artist must be a pretty serious fan. Once its popular, you get a whole lot of "OMG that group is liiieekk sooo good!!" and that just gets annoying as shit honestly. So even though it may seem meaningless to know if someone knew about a group before mainstream success, it is simply a way of finding people who are actually worth talking to about music. Sure, its not a perfect system, but it helps I guess...

Are you kidding? The VMA's are not the pinnacle of this guys career. He's been playing sold out shows all over the world for years. Deadmau5 has been irrelevant for awhile now. If you go to his shows its just chongo's and douche bags. Have you ever noticed that they are the defining movement in killing trends. If you see something on Jersey Shore its fucking over. i.e. Paulie D buying a plaid shirt. Shits over. Moving on.

I understand ya...I guess I'm not as die hard in music...I listen to loads of it and any genre as well...but only for casual purposes..and i've never seen a concert.

Yeah, not trying to /claim, but Ive averaged a show a week for the past year including 3 music festivals. Its a greater passion for me even than skiing. I know most people on here get super pissed off when you say you ski and they are liek, "OMG did you see Simon Dumont do that double front flip and win the extreme games? He is leik the best skier Everrrr!!!" Its the same shit.

I would consider myself a person who is pretty far into the electo/electronic/dubstep music scene. One thing I can tell you is that there is going to be a separation between shitty mainstream electro and awesome underground shit, (actually there already is) just like rap music. When rap first came out it was frowned upon just like electro 6 years ago when I first started really getting into it. People would be like 'what the fuck is that shit' (in a bad way) because they weren't used to it. This reminds me exactly what people went through with rap music. Then it got mainstream and people got used to it.
