Deadbolt 412's or 614's?

I'm basically buying an all new setup this year, tore my rotator cuff last year and had surgery twice so I sold everything. I'm 6'0'' and I weigh 180lbs 20 years old. I was wondering if I should get the deadbolt 412's or 614's if I want to ski park and backcountry. What din do you guys ride in the park? What din do you ride backcountry? Right now I'm leaning towards the 614's, I don't think I would use a din that low anytime anyways. Also, does anyone know where I can buy them online for cheaper than 270$? I have heard of people getting them for under 200$ but I haven't been able to find anything under 270$. My local store told me that they can custom order them for me with a discount but I forgot to get the price :(

Thanks,

Jake

good luck finding them anywhere for less--i scrounged everywhere for like 2 months before i found a pair on TGR for like 100. To answer your question, go 614--better to have the extra high din in case you find you need it. they still start low enough, and are pretty much the same price. no reason to go 412 unless you're really light and are sure you won't need the extra digits.

They are 270 on getboards now, just checked. I think I can also get Marker Jesters for around 250 and Head Mojo 15's for 250. Any opinions on those? Right now I'm leaning deadbolts because they are proven and have been around for a while, I think I'll try to stop by my shop today and see how cheap they could get me the 614's.

No, its just that very few shops have the jig to mount them. Not every single shop is given a jig. Only the 4fnt dealers have them, and even some of the dealers dont have the proper jigs. atleast around here.

Would that make it unsafe for me to get them mounted there then? They don't carry 4frnt bindings but they carry their skis and poles, should I order them and get them mounted elsewhere or does it not really matter?

You're probably around a 9 din if you're any good, so either one will be fine. The 614 might be worth picking up just to give you the extra range if you end up putting on wright.

I am about the same size/age as you and I ride my skis around an 8... The binding is loose on my now though and I am pre-releasing on jumps and even turning in crud so I am going to crank it up... If you ski hard at all get the 614 but if your tight on cash nothing wrong with the 412.

Ok, so I went to my local shop, I live in Boston so that is a Ski Market (lol). They are having a huge sale for BUSki Club members in about three weeks. I asked them about the deadbolt and they are calling me with a price tomorrow, I forgot to ask about the jig but I doubt that they have it since they don't regularly stock 4frnt bindings. With the huge sale I mentioned, I can get the Marker Jester for $215 and I'm guessing the deadbolt for around $200. Which one do you think I should go for? A lot of people have been telling me the deadbolt so far because the jester is a new model and isn't proven. And yea, it looks like the 614 if I get the deadbolt.

Thanks,

Jake

go for the deadbolts, the jesters are supposed to be good but its not a 100% proven chance. i love my 614's and i would reccomend them to anyone.

Well I mentioned the Mojo's before I figured out that I could get the deadbolts for 200 or the jesters for 215. I think the cheapest Mojo's around are like 250. But have you had any experience with them? I'm always open to suggestions.

Well I just figured maybe the mojo's were at a good price too.

best way to get through life is get your gear as cheap as possible, so for sure, go with teh cheaper ones!

You forgot to factor in the fact that the next shop is going to charge you $75 to mount them when the first shop doesnt have the jig. Or you could risk them freehanding it.

OK well for some reason my shop won't order / can't order 4frnt bindings, something about the business agreement that they have, so I'm probobaly going to check out the marker jesters, or keep looking online for othe options.

get the 614's if you can find them.

They are built a little better and will hold up.

You're problee an 8 or so din anyways, Im about your size... and i have sth 9-16s set at 11. I wont touch my din until i loosen them for the summer.

i have some 614s for sale for 100. they're the old model (vists, red and silver, exactly the same as the 4frnts), but are in like new condition, 100mm brakes.
