Totally disagree. I see a lot of skiers use poles incorrectly or as a crutch. Skiied without poles today for the first time it a while and not only is it really fun but also can make you a better skier in some ways. Not saying do it all the time but give it a go

To be honest I'm not really one to ski without poles myself but I've definitely noticed a ton more kids doing so this season than before. Plus, there's a reason racers train without poles as it strengthens technique.

One day, I forgot my poles at home, and I never went back. I have skied without poles for years, it does increase technique a ton. It really forces you to focus on footwork, especially on steep hardpack.

I almost always ski without poles. However I'm a certified ski instructor (CSIA level 1 and CFSA) and have a background in racing. Not everyone who chooses to ski without poles in the park is a trash at actual skiing, contrary to what you seem to be implying.

Another NSer that "can't afford" something that costs less than his daily bag of weed. Save a dollar a day, and you'll be good to buy a set from the local thrift store in 5 days!
