"dead-sexy" Dumont gets exposure

Today the Boston Globe has an article about skiing's new dominance on the slopes and the decline of snowboarding's 'coolness'.

The article particulary highlights Dumont, saying "skier Simon Dumont rides his four edges as well as anybody, and his fans know it. Out near the halfpipe were two young ladies ogling Dumont. Partly because he can throw a 1260 degree spin and partly because he is "dead-sexy" and "steezy", which means he has style with ease." Gotta love it. The article was actually very well written and informative to the average reader/skier/snowboarder.

Most interesting quote noted that "snowboarding is now mainstream, which means, virtually by definition, that it's bound to become uncool."

Any thoughts? Should we protect skiing's radness right now from the establishment, or is it inevitable?

yeah i still like the feeling when im the only skiier in a park full of snowboarders, but thats pretty rare these days

thats funny...a 1260 degree spin..they make it sound so funny by like putting steeze in quatations and wwat not...wat noobs haha

good thing that journalist used mostly 12 year olds as sources. i think skiing and snowboarding should stop being portrayed as competitors and start being seen as coexistent.

i think it is retarded how they asked 12 year old kids, little kids usually have the most misguided information and believe whatever they hear. they should have been asking people who can actually be diehards in the sport, because at 12, most likely u rely on ur mom to get u to and from the mountain and arent very independent, they should ask people who are 16 and up cause they are independent enough to get to the mountain by themselves, and are more mature on their vews.

Great to hear this from someone other than the guys at the ski shop. I think it was pretty evident watching the x-games that the stoke factor on skiing is heating up. Anyone crying about there being a chance they won't be the only skier in the park look at your lift ticket next time you go to the mountain. It ain't no country club, the more exposure we get the better off we'll be.

skiing isn't cooler then snowboarding, nor is snowboarding cooler.. they're the same fucking thing and we all ride together because we love it, so everyone claiming one or the other is cooler, get a fucking clue.

Snowboarding is maing stream but so is skatting and thats only getting bigger and bigger yes more people are starting to ski but snowboarding still has skiing in publicity, overall riders, and on rails. Snowboarding will never be uncool,
