Whose used one before?

I have a garage at the apartment I live in but no power hookup in the garage. I am looking to essentially power little more than an iron to have the ability to wax my skis.

Main question for anyone who has used one, if the car is not running, how badly will this kill off the battery?

if you're thinking about this, i'd say definitely have the car on so you don't rape your battery. make sure the a/c and the radio and anything you can actually turn off is off.

while you'd be fine now and then I wouldn't do it too often. you'd have to have the car running while doing it, and its a fair strain on the battery since most car batteries are sized to the loads in the car.

No way to just get a huge extension cord?

Could also look at one of those boost packs that you can keep charged in the house and just take out to the garage when you need, though not sure how long it would last

a power inverter will also run you 50-100 bucks, not worth it in my opinion unless you have other shit to run in your car. It will run down your battery and should have your car running but even then a device like that might trip some fuses in your car.

Basically not that good of an idea unless it is last resort.

Good to hear the advice. I might be better off goig the extension cord route. Especially since the wattage on an iron is actually surprisingly high.

dont listen to them^^ an iron will take up hardly anything. youre talking about the kind you plug in the lighter socket right? you probably wont need it on for more than like 20 min. it wont drain your batter that much and if youre worried, drive around the block when youre done and it will be fine.

we used to have a tv and n64 in the car and would play even with the car off, never a problem
