pretty contraversial i must say... people boycotting it across asia and france... any thoughts or any one read it

i read the book and im going to see the movie tonite...it was a good book for me only because of the intresting history, but the actual writing and plotline didn't intrest me

^You mean fabricated history. There have been way too many holes poked in Brown's theories.

Still a cool story though, i hope some of its true, it would make the world more intresting.

dude it is fiction... captain brown did some resaerch, saw some shit he liked decided to supe it up and throw in sme shit that would piss the church off and there for create more business for him and voila! hes now a fucking millionaire..... real good book though, i just hate it when ppl think that is what really happened, and im not even religious

i dont believe any of it is true but, the people that are disspoving him are Catholic , there is no way to know if the sangreal documents exsist because the only people that know where it is are dead or belong to the secret society's (which do exsist). There is no way to know if the "bloodline" of Jesus is a 2000 year cover up or not. Most of his staments of facts (how many planes of glass in the prymid, the mona lisa, etc.) have been disproven but the people that are saying the sangreal documents dont exsist have no idea, they are not members of a secret society or any shit like that...but i dont know if i believe it or not

No some of it is true, yes most of it is fictonal. all the locations are real and so it the last supper look at it. and whos said it is wrong for jesus to have kids. I don't totally believe it but i think it is cool to think of it in a differernt way. The San grael wasn't metioned as a cup until the 1800s

Its fiction, no doubt about it. But some people are so histeric about it. In Greece, the Catholic movement wanted the police to fine and jail the viewers of the movie. People are fucked.

honestly...why must people be so gay about this topic?? people r like "ooooo, it s so bad and it will put false beliefs in peopls heads"...dude, its a friggin book get over it, plus its awesome

its stupid that people are boycotting the movie when all the books and internet information are all still gonna be accessible. if you dont want to see it then dont go see it. its fucken simple. id go see it but its a long fucken movie and i hate long movies like that and ill probably end up going with my gf so id be stuck explaining shit and i hate that too.

its a historical FICTION! meaning that it has some historical information. (like the paintings in the luve) but all the other shit is MADE UP! but half the people in america don't get that and think its true. What the hell is wrong with people. pluss its not even a well written book although it is good for a long plain ride or a car trip.

i couldnt have said it better myself...it's a blockbuster book that's about it.

dan brown isnt exactly known for his skills as a writer of great literature if u know what i mean yo.

Actually the last supper was shown to be just an account of that historical event and nothing more. Now Virgin of the Rocks painting, I suggest you take a look at that for some interesting stuff.

The author himslf, DAn BRown even said he worte the book to sell books with no factual evidance.. i will see the movie just because i wanna see it, but its a fiction novel so all the contraversy is kinda annoying

If so he shouldn't have included that facts page in the beginning. Isn't there a law aginst stating false facts in a novel like that? Priory of Sion is a bunch of bullshit and was not started in 1099 but rather it was started by some shit french film maker named Cocteau in the 1950s as his invented "Secret Society". The supposed Secret Dossiers that linked Da Vinci and Isaac Newton to the false Priory of Sion were concluded by ALL experts to be forgeries and fakes. Yet that son of a bitch Dan Brown puts them up on the first page as facts. He sets up his novel as a possible fiction based on facts, which is completely wrong. Its a ficion novel based on false facts. People who read the book and read the facts finish the book thinking "wow, that could really have happened". That page should be removed from the book. It should be illegal to state false facts.

Plus the history is all wrong. He implicates that the Templar knights were the military arm of the Priory. Ignorant people easily believe this shit because the Priory of Sion is stated as a factually real society in the beginning of the book even though it is not.

Posted some time ago in a cult...

1. The claim that the canonical gospels are not the earliest gospels. Claims that suppressed Gnostic gospels are the earliest written gospels and the canonical gospels were selected from among 80 other gospels. Firstly, there were only less than half of that many books written about Jesus' life. Second, the two Gnostic gospels Brown relies on weren't written until the 2nd c. A.D., after the New Testament.

2. Claim that the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in the 1950’s. No, they were discovered in 1947.

3. Claim that the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Gnostic texts found at Nag Hammadi are the earliest Christian Records. In fact the dead sea scrolls are JEWISH documents that don't mention Jesus.

4. Claim that Jesus Christ never claimed to be divine and was never worshipped as a deity until the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. He's called "God" and "Lord" in the new testament several times, which is before 325...

6. Claim that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene. Brown uses a quote from a Gnostic gospel that says Jesus was the "companion" of Mary Magdalene, which he says really means spouse because that's what the word means in Aramaic. Slight problem. the document he's citing was written in Coptic. Not Aramaic.

7. Brown calls it "Fact" that a group called the "Priory of Sion" exists and there are documents to support it in the National Library. Unfortunately these documents were long ago recognized as forgeries put in place by an anti-semitic supporter of the Vichy regime.

8. Claim that John in the Last Supper is Mary Magdalene. In fact his affeminate depiction was typical of the period (ask an art historian). The "omg it looks like an M!" thing is just plain silly.

9. Claim that the Merovingians founded Paris... uh... What? No. No they didn't. Thanks for coming out, Dan.

10. All those claims about Cathedrals, masterminded by the Knights Templar, representing parts of the female body. Don't even know where to start here... first of all, the description he offers doesn't really have anything to do with actual Gothic architecture. Usually Gothic churches have 3 main entrances on the west side, plus three more on the north and south. Explain that one in anatomical terms, please. Also the long rectangular nave was a translation of earlier Romanesque styles. ALSO, the Templars had nothing to with cathedrals, which were commissioned by Bishops.

11. Claim that "Jehovah" is a combination of "Jah", the masculine, and "Havah", the pre-Hebraic name for eve. Except that's wrong, again; "Jehovah" is a 16th century rendering of "Yahweh" using the vowels of Adonai.

12. Claims about Da Vinci. These are the worst, to me. The idea that the Mona Lisa is a self-portrait... what is he thinking, it's widely known that it's of a real woman, Lisa, the wife of an Italian named Giocondo. He says that the lack of grail in the "Last Supper" is meant to show that the grail isn't material, but the painting is about betrayal and not the Eucharist, and is based on St John's gospel. The institution narrative is in the gospel of Luke. His confusions about what actually goes on IN the painting are result of another error: he says it's a fresco. If it were, we'd have a clearer picture of what's going on in it, but it isn't. It's this weird idea Da Vinci had that didn't work out quite so well called a "Tempera", which led to whole pieces of paint to fall off the wall. The painting we have now is the result of a 2-decade-long attempt to re-create the original, and there's a lot of debate about whether the restorers "got it wrong".

Finally, the "Disembodied hand with the dagger". No, sorry. First of all, it's a knife, not a dagger. A dagger would have a thin blade with a sharp end for stabbing. This has a single edge and is clearly for cutting food. Secondly, the arm isn't "disembodied"; there are 6 disciples to Jesus' right in the painting, and a total of 12 arms and 12 hands. The knife is in the right hand of Peter. There's an entire book on this called the "Study for the Right Arm of Peter" in a private collection in England. Brown is just plain wrong.

There are dozens of others.

on a somewhat unrelated note, the mona lisa is so disspointing when you see it for the first time in real life. Its so small and not awesome but the painting right across from it is really cool, the wedding at cana

i heard its a shitty assed movie, im not going to see it for the same reason i didnt see MI:3. Becuase i dont like giving crazy people my money.

excellent book, one of my favorites. i'm seeing it tomorrow, and i can't wait. tom hanks is one of my favorite actors, and ron howard is one of my favorite directors. i'm a devoted christian, but i see no reason to boycott it. i've always thought that everyone just needs to chill. all it is is a story, it's just for entertainment. it's a novel, not to be taken as a textbook.

haha - how cool to be dan brown.. look at all the shit he stirred up jus cause people can't handle the contents of a fiction work!

Dan Brown's Book The Da Vinci Code is sold as a fiction book... just like say, the Berstein Bears or a John Grisham novel. The fact that people are this worked up over a work of fiction is a testament to how fucking retarded half the world is when it comes to common fucking sense. At no point as Brown ever tried to claim the book as fact. It's a fucking FICTIONAL book, sold as such, and makes no claims as to it being true. Why the FUCK can't people get this through their thick skulls????

I love that there are religios groups boycotting the book and movie, really shows how stupid these people truly are. They are boycotting a FICTIONAL story. FICTION, as in NOT TRUE! It's like the NYPD boycotting Scarface or a Mob movie because the movies glorify illegal activity. Holy fucking shit people are getting worked up over a fictional story. it boggles my mind as to what the fuck people are thinking.

If you don't enjoy the story, then fine, you're enttitled to your opinion. Personally I loved the book and am stoked for Dan Brown, as I remember when my mom worked with him and he was struggling to make it as a musician.

The book is trash. A page turner, nothing more. It's a fictional book but, like I've already stated, the fact page in the front of the book is misleading and complete bullshit misleading. And, even though it is a fictional book, the whole story is nothing but complete blasphemy and a subtle attack on the Christian and especially the Catholic faith. People boycotting a movie is not stupid at all. The movie's plot offends them and they choose to put their money elsewhere. I do not see how such a reasonable act of protest against blasphemy can be construed as stupid. Perhaps the black individuals where also stupid when they boycotted the bus system back in the civil rights era. Now I am not very religious and I don't take most things too seriously. However, when I see gothic nerds at my high school sitting around in a circle discussing the topic of the book as if it was based on real events, it enrages me. If you want to see stupid, look at all the fuckers who are buying the DaVinci Code and putting money into the hands of that no good piece of shit writer. There are thousands of better writers out there that deserve money more than that cockroach Dan Brown. All he did was make money by putting out a book downplaying the Christian faith.

Saw the movie.. it was worth 7 dollars and the few hours it took to watch it.. that's about all. I probably won't see it again.

i agree with you. i will watch it again when it comes out on video. but it was a very intertaining movie. IF YOU WANT ACTION DONT EXPECT IT! this is mostly a thriller/mystery.

Welcome to America chief. Dan Brown is my hero, he made an ass load of money off of the stupidity of the American public. If you want to cry about it, move to the vatican.

And while you're in the vatican, make sure to stop in St. Peter's Square and take notice of semicircle with the oblesk in the middle of the 8 pointed wheel. A perfect representation of Pagan sun worship. Shit and I though atrology was banned by the catholic church.

When you aren't as good of a writer as others, then you need put food on the table by other means. For him to go out pull bits of history together, and tie it nicely into story, is quite amazing, whether it be true or not. Get over it.

Ha ha just like that idiot James Frey. That book was a load of bull. I read it but skipped over the stuff that he wanted us to pity him for. It was an ok book otherwise but i feel stupid for falling for that shit. Didnt read the DaVinci Code though
