David Wise (the Undude) - New York Times

cheap comeback: says a kid who probably hikes the rail park

but yea, I didn't, and wouldn't, say to hike the pipe all day every day, even if you're trying to be really good at pipe.

My overall thoughts are to let the guy be. If he wants to just ride pipe, then let him, its not hurting anyone. I feel like the did the article was on him largely because he's unique in that most olympic free ski contenders aren't married young fathers with highly religious backgrounds.

Wise is the man, he puts his family first and still has time to ski, plus he's a super nice guy. I can dig it.

nyt is just trying to relate its readers to the nature of freeskiing, but also do it in a way that shows the individual nature of skiing. i think they did a fine job

i didnt think it was cheap, or a comeback...just a statement of opinion i'd hope most skiers share.

and yeah i hike rails, sometimes, i even hike pipe, sometimes. but you'll never catch me making a day off it, let alone a week or a season or a 'career'..theres so much more to skiing than park and pipe..

i do hope that if nbc makes this the undude show, and shits on the rest of us flannel wearing dirtbags, you'll see my concern
