none of you know what you are talking about for ski music. rap is shit for anything and punk is to hardcore sometimes. DMB is the greatest because it is so layed back and it actually says something instead of talking about drugs,getting high, banging your hoes, and cruisin in your pimped out SUVs.

I'm studying recording/engineering. I've had my own studio for about 4-5 years. Had a band. Recorded in a professional studio. I'm not a racist. Kiss my ass! You are obviously a cunt!

dmb has some rather insipid qualities. i spent a lot of time obsessing over his music in high school. i thought i knew what good music was but for the most part i was pretty ignorant. he just doesn't challenge you. additionally i think that he has marketed himself to a degree that has brought him an enormous amount of success through album sales, but the problem is that dave is now a celebrity and thats very annoying because it has definately affected his music. i think that he is playing more for the people than for himself - you might say so what, thats what a successful musician is supposed to do. well it may make a successful musician but it doesn't make a good muscian. good musicians play for themselves, they play what they want to play, and experiment in ways that they want to. don't confuse catchy music with good music. i agree some of the stuff he comes up with is beautiful and full of human emotion, but there is plethora of other choices out there that are supported by ungodly talent. yes dave and his band members are incredible musicians (technically speaking), but that is just the beginning of things. toothless you need to think about composition and progression (eg: the rolling stones). there are a thousand bands out there that beat the shit out of dave. theres a reason why critics (www.allmusic.com) don't give dave 5 star reviews. trust me they know waaaaay more about music and have a ton more creditibility than you do.

on the topic of music not one person can down somebody else for the music they choose. If that person likes it, it must be good in some way. However in opinions you can down that band all you want. In my opinion DMB is not good at all, and that REAL hip-hop has soul and meaning.

I garuntee you the maker of this thread is 16, white and lives in a middle class home. DMB is really terrible because his lyrics are terrible if you read them and hearing him sing them makes the crap come out 10 fold. He is terrible and the only reason people still like him is because other people say he's good so they mindlessly agree with them.

DMB is the greatest band that is out right now and were amazing back in the day and still are. If you actually listen to some of his lyrics and know anything about music you will realize that they have amazing songs. The people who don't like DMB are the people who have only listened to I Did It and other crap that even the fans dont like. Listen to dreaming tree or you never know and any other good song. They are an amazing band

I don't know how to put this, but I'm kind of a big deal... People know me, I own many leather bound books...
 
I used to hate him before I actually listened to a few of his CDs. Now that I listened to him I actually think he is really good.

i've listened to a bunch of their stuff, my roommate is borderline obsessed, and i really dont find it that great. it all sounds so similar. i know, you're entitled to your opinion and all, and so am i. in my opinion, one of the best bands that's still relatively current has to be the chili peppers. super talented and they change up their sound too, not every song sounds exactly like the previous one.
