The anticipated new DMB album has "officially" dropped today. Produced with Steve Lillywhite, this album has had me very excited for it since it was announced.

I personally love it. Great variety, bonus tracks, and messages.

So fans, what are your thoughts? Favorite songs?

To everyone else, let's try to keep the negativity, hate, and natty ice out of here.

snow outside--->drunken soldier is the best 15 min of music to be released on a studio album in the past 5 years...hate away

Haven't heard it yet. I usually prefer the Live stuff over studio but defiantly will have to check this out.

I was never a fan of him until I saw him in concert. after that I started listening to him more and really enjoyed him. I'm definitley getting this.

Scared to listen to it. Might try eventually. Burn me a copy if I see you in toga ever so I can keep it in my car and maybe listen to it on a road trip sometime.

I wish the scene wasn't the worst in music. I'd like to give a dave show another chance. His bands is always full of some of the most talented musicians around, but the crowd is so fucking shitty it just makes it hard to tolerate.

Love it. It's like a combination of some older stuff (thanks to Steve Lillywhite) with a hint of Big Whiskey.

I'll have one burned if you ever stop by.

The concert scene is bad. The fans are the best though. And I wouldn't call it the "worst." Try going to a Drake show or something like that (I've never been but it has to be worse).

Maybe try getting a box or front row seat? I know that's not your style but it's probably the only way haha.

He draws one of the worst *tail gaiting* crowds possible.

Hundreds of kids from my high school found his concerts a perfect place to go binge drink. I went to school with a bunch of rahtards.

I can only imagine its the same everywhere else.

totes, like totally chill, like soo good. thanks for the super like gearshaft tunes, brah. I like slack and frolf all the time to it, maaan.

Listened 5 times through today. Can't find one song I don't like yet. Sweet is probably my favorite as of now though.

Enough about the crowd. Yes. It sucks. It's a bunch of drunk teens and hoes throwing up. The live music is beautiful though, and I've found I can enjoy it no matter what.

Thanks for all the hate! Let's try to keep it to the music.

Still can't get over how happy I am with this one. Had it on preorder for a while.

i would rather listen to ke$ha's album fast forwarded 2x speed repeated 5 times than one single dmb song

Okay. The worst out of any music I would consider listening too or going to see. When drake at spac statuses start going up on facebook I think WTF happened to America?

I don't want to pay a million bucks. Maybe if I get stubbed into the pavilion I can get up far enough where the bros haven't quite infiltrated yet.

Really? Because he and his band are incredibly talented regardless if you like the music. Some of the best out there. Carter Beauford is tight as fuck.

Yeah, actually. The band has some of the best talent in music. Carter on the drums, Boyd on the violin, LeRoi (RIP) on the sax, Stefan on the bass, Timmy on the guitar. They're really all in the top tier of their instrument's players.

Hopefully he'll be back in my hometown for another concert in the summer. One of the highlights of my summer, possible the past few years.

shut the fuck up. I fucking cant stand anyone who tries to tell someone else the music they enjoy isnt good, listen to what you like and shut the fuck up you egotistical piece of shit.

I love the new album, love the sound. Awesome Pink Floyd homage in the last 3 minutes of Drunken Soldier.

My song by song review

Broken Things - Top 3 songs on the album. Great start, great to have lillywhite back. Lyrically not quite big 3 level, but a vast improvement over BW/SU

Belly Belly Nice - Cool and funky musically, lyrically unimpressive. Reminds me quite a bit of SMLAM, with a little Seven thrown in. Not terrible, but not anywhere near my favorite on the album.

Mercy - Love what Lillywhite did with this, the layering is phenomenal, leaps and bounds ahead of the live version (not to mention nice knowing you arent going to get hit with the turd of a song Out of My Hands is which popped up so much this summer).

Gaucho - Almost a Stone like riff, very cool. Love the music, love Timmy and Jeff going crazy during the second chorus. Lyrically the chorus is meh, and the please wake up line is cheesy, but this song is still good, I can take his Stand Up like, beat-you-over-the-head obvious politics in his lyrics when the music is so good.

Sweet - A cute song that gets a bad rep. I was there for the debut at Caravan last summer, its a fun little song, I just wish the band came in earlier.

The Riff - Hands down my favorite track on the album. Awesome musically, good lyrics, all around a fantastic tune. Funny how the album is more layered/subtle, and the live version more in your face, kind of like Dont Drink the Water was on BTCS.

Belly Full - Awesome to have the token Dave solo track earlier on the album. Almost feels like an improv by him not unlike in a live setting.

If Only - Funky tune, loved it live, quite like it on the album. Lots of fun.

Rooftop - The first verse/guitar almost reminds me of U2. Kind of a different sound to the band, but a good song.

Snow Outside - Second favorite track on the album. Cant wait to hear that outro jam become insane live.

Drunken Soldier - Musically fantastic, lyrically alright, though again, its sad Dave has lost his subtlety that he had in earlier albums. Everything is very straightforward now. Between the intro and outro jams, I can see this becoming Seek Up epic status.

Overall a great album, and a huge step in the right direction for the band. Is it big 3 status? No, but Im not sure anyone in the band is in a place in their lives where they can really write music like that any more. Still worlds better than Stand Up and Big Whiskey, and a good bit better than Everyday as well. Wonderful hearing Boyd utilized more, and Jeff has really come into his own as a part of the band, taking some influence from Roi but still doing his own thing.

You also are at one of the two worst venues for bro-dom out there. SPAC and Alpine are worlds beyond the rest in terms of the "lets see how many high schoolers can test their bodies alcohol intake limit before death".

I know its far out of your way, but I highly recommend Deer Creek as a place to see the band. A great mellow vibe. They dont get quite the sets that SPAC/Alpine get, but still good shows, and without being surrounded by cargo shorts and Natty.

Alpine is my "home" venue so to speak, and because of the incredible sets they get every year (2012 they got easily the 2 best shows of the tour) Ill never skip out, but I can fully admit that they have a godawful scene there, and every year the night I cheap out and sit lawn I swear it will be my last year sitting lawn (and then proceed to do it again the next year haha).

Meh. Different styles more than anything. Both had their merits and downfalls.

But damn, Alpine this year made me realize that I miss the crap out of Roi on Raven. Not the same without him on the intro.

leroi didn't fit their sound as well as jeff does now. jazz roots in a jam setting can work, but you need the chops to back it up.

I used to. Not a huge fan though. Some I like some I don't. Just saying that it's ridiculous for people to say some of the shit about that band.

If I'm ever out there I'll check it out. If my friend hadn't gotten busted earlier on phish tour i would have been out to those venues. I just can't travel for dave. It would be nice to catch it from a different perspective without all the awful shit though

Broken Things: Good intro to the album. Shows a distinct difference between the last three albums. Liking the transitions.

Belly Belly Nice: Very Big Whiskey-esque. Similar to SMLAM. Good addition though. Always love Dave's sexual references too. "When the juice is drippin' off your chin one peach is not enough."

Mercy: Pretty song. Good chorus. Not a fan of the "Gotta get together" part, but it's alright. Everything else is just beautiful. Good vibe. Perfect outro.

Gaucho: Great intro. Even better message. Absolutely in love with "What will I say to my baby..." Not a fan of the kids chorus though.

Sweet: Beautiful. Easily in my top three if not my favorite. Love the Ukelele. Pretty intro with the use of his head voice, and good transition.

The Riff: Repetitive, but good. Good escalation to the end jam, which I hope will be epic live.

Belly Full: Good, slow song. Not much beyond that though.

If Only: Pretty Stand Up-esque. Just has that feel.

Rooftop: I like it, but meh. Not much to say.

Snow Outside: Just an overall great song. Brings me back to the golden days of Dave. The horns, the fingering, everything. Intro, outro, all of it. It's a nice revival after the three songs before it.

Drunken Soldier: Epic. Classic Tim in the intro. Can't wait to hear this live. It's gonna be a 20 min. banger. Transition from intro-main straight banger section-"that's not a star..." is awesome.

Just an awesome album overall. From the starting 6 songs that show you what's going down, to BF, If Only, and Rooftop, to be completely revived by Snow>Drunken Soldier. You can really see the influence of Steve Lillywhite. So happy he's back. Better than the last three albums, but the first 4 cannot be topped. It's like a revival. A combination of the older style and some new.

Outro of Snow Outside is amazing. Just controlled chaos. Awesome build from 3:25 on, till it culminates with Carter going ape, Timmy going crazy, Rashawn with some awesome stuff. Just epic.

Just debuted #1 on the Billboard Top 200, making DMB the only group in chart history to have SIX consecutive studio albums debut at #1.

I can only do Chicago. Id love to do Louisville but I cant possibly schedule travel in December. Too busy.

Dave is easily my favorite artist. i really like the direction they took with this album. can't wait to have my mind blown by drunken soldier live
