What do you guys think of DMB? I saw them in concert last night, the concert was fucking amazing although I don't really like their recorded stuff that much.

i used to like them quite a while ago but not anymore. I have seen him live and it was good but not worth the shitload of money ipaid and felt ripped off.

where does all the white go when the snow melts?
 
They've got this hype about them now, and are now in the mainstream. Liking them is kind of like a guilty pleasure for some reason against listener's who supposedly have their own taste because they have 'popped'...despite the fact that they are hugely overated I would still say that they are a good band.

 
yah I quite like some of their earlier stuff aye, it's pretty sweet.

i like it, but I CAN'T DANCE TO IT...sorry...you know who you are. you gotta admit though, musical talent-wise all those guys pretty much spank the hell out of most bands today. the drummer is amazing.

music wise, yea they're good. better then most of the punk i bands i listen too. but i dont like the music..

 
one of my fav bands saw them here in van city when they came was one of the best live shows i have ever seen but i think the older stuff is better like everyone was saying

I hated them just before they got big now I despise them. I find alot of their stuff sounds too similar. (Most bands have similar sounding songs but I notice it very much so with DMB) It was worse when everyone at my school started listening to them.

i dont like it how he has too many posers following his music, (aka high school and middle school girls who are obsessed with hinm for 1 song) but theirs not anything he can do about that. he's a great musician. i think him and paul simon would make an amazing tour toghether. just cuz they both are white musicians playing music with lots of african influences. mostly influences from south africa. i think they would make a great tour together.

theres a natural mystic flowing through the air if you listen carefully now you will hear. its the first trumpet calling. might as well be the last. many more will have to suffer many more will have to die dont ask me why. things are not the way they used to be.
 
I hate him...if there was an anti dave matthews fan club i would sign right up. I do think some of the guys in the band are talented...but god his voice is annoying, i think half his songs are terribly written, plus no band should be named after one guy. Especially when that guy sucks.

the thing that pisses me off so much is ask anyone and they will be like o he is so awesome at guitar or something along those lines about osmeone in the band. Not saying they arent good but its not midblowing stuff. if you want to go to a good live concert go to a jam band concert if you think a DMB concert is crazy go to a sci o dark star orchestra concert. At DSO not a single person in our section wasnt smoking or doing something. Plus those tickets are suck a rip off for not tha good of a show. whoever made the abercrombie comment that is so true

I would rather never ski again than attended a DMB or a Korn concert. I am not saying a Dave concert sucks, if thats your thing ok but its far from crazy. Personally I dont want to be half a mile from the stage and even if I do get close I dont want a 4 foot wall with 50 meathead bouncers in front of me. Fuck Dave Matthews, while your at it fuck creed, phish, Korn, Limp Bizkit, eminem, those ass clowns in Blink 182, Sum 41, and pretty much every over played piece of garbage on the radio. But my biggest F-U- goes to metallica for ruining my getting free music online easily. Sorry for my hate filled rant

Alright river riper you are way off. I understand your dislike for dave but don't even fucking think of starting to diss phish. How can you compare phish to creed and sum 41? Your insolence is overwhelming. Trey is so amazing at jamming, and you comparing those bands to phish is un-heard of. Hey dont take it personal. If you like Phish thats you deal...but personally I think listening them is like being raped in the ear. Sorry my opinion and I stand by it, but if it came down to phish of dmb, i would rather have phish cause at least the singer can sing and isnt annoying as hell.

actually...after the whole woodstock riots there was quite a bit of coverage about the shit going on at concerts and there was one such story about a DMB concert where there were 4 or five fires going with people throwing whatever they could find in it. the people were shocked because DMB is not the kind of music that people would want to burn shit to unless it was a cigarrette or some weed

 
Ya that is exactly what hardcore is all about. Look I dont mind people who listen to DMB, since thats pretty much like 75% of the population. But the slipknot (whose name was stolen from a mid 80s hardcore band) Manson, Insane Clown Posse, and the rest of those bands...those kids piss me off. Then again so do hardliners who preach to everyone about everything.

does anyone th ink that paul and dave would make a good tour, plus it would get all those posers following dave to hear paul simon, and hear dave matthews ain't that great compared to a lot of other people.

Yea, I used listen to a lot of DMB. The live shows are definitley what's best about the band. I've heard a lot of bands that suck live but I wouldn't mind listening to their recorded stuff.

This is why DMB is a very talented band.... I just don't like where they are headed...

i've been a dave fan for awhile, and to say they are headed in the wrong direction is pretty wrong...after the everyday 'disaster', this latest album is headed more towards where it should be going.

And I think that this whole hating mainstream stuff is a little lame too. Everyone wants to stop liking music after everyone likes it, but some stuff is just pleasing to your own ears it doesn't matter how played out it is. Dave concerts are a lot of fun, but the aforementioned? abercrombie kids really piss me off as well. I just don't like those kids in general. Paying for a label is pretty lame...good thing I usually get my concert tix for free.
