darksides

15mm. To put that into perspective, a Line Mike Nick(Full twin tip) has a tail height of 51mm, and a Skogen Sprang pro model is 56mm/56mm. If you're looking for a full on twin, the Darkside isn't your best choice.

Nolan, after I reminded him of what a verb in the past tense was.

My friend has last year's Darksides and the tips and tails are the same height. High enough to land switch in powder.

REMEMBER: It's 10% equipment, and 90% rider.

This year's were redesigned to be more of a 'cruising' ski for groomed runs. It's no longer a twintip, but last year's were.

yeah, the new darksides aren't for switch anything. an unfortunate new direction for Line, i think.

Unfortunate? I'd call it fortunate. The broader market they can appeal to, the more money they bring in. The more money they bring in, the more money they put into making us some sweet skis.

or the more money they put into next years 3 new non twin tipped kis...

where's the progression? and what disadvantages are there to twin tips? why not make there carving skis have twins? carving switch is fun.

Their non-twins are going to be made by Blizzard... so the more money goes into twins :)

Line is becomming a true ski company. With their binding and the pre-drilled inserts, a person could easily build a quiver of skis for whatever types of skiing they liked. They could get Darksides for moguls and ripping the mountain, a pro model or 1260s for the park, and the Mothership for the steep and deep.

Free your mind

you call the darkside a non twin? then you also call the enemy from years past a non twin. same tail. and the darkside is a big mountain ski, not a groomer. but it does do well on the groomers. but it kicks ass on the off piste. 90% all mountain, 10% park.

Just Huck It.

i'm just saying that having a true twin doesn't hurt the ski at all, so why not?

Actually, having a flat tail allows for more running length, usually providing a little more snap out of turns.

yeah, but the tails aren't flat, they are slightly turned up, so it seems like if they are gonna do that (which already reduces the carving lentgth) the may as well go all the way... once you turn up the tail, it doesn't matter how far up it goes. and if you want more carving length, just buy them longer.

the darkside is most defianetly not a big mountain ski. just look at the waist dimension which is 73mm, more a mid fat ski than anything else. i personally havn't tried, but i dont think the darkside would be rippin it off piste...that's what the Scratch BC, and Pocket Rocket

the tail hight is directly proportional to the snap of a tail as the turn is exited. the reason for not making a tall tail is so increase the proformance handlang. like the difference between sport tuned handling and proformance tuned handling. and a tal tail sprays everyone behind you when skiing.

yeah the ds is not a big mountain ski, way too skinny of a waist to be big mountain, it's an all mountain.

hey, if it opens up a new market for line, and brings more cash into the company to make better twins, then why the hell are all the graphics the same on next years skis? i understand the pro models keeping the same graphics, but skis like the 1260 should definatly get some new skins. Still, your a 40-some yr old guy lookin fo new skis, what are you gonna buy. Lets say you've been skiing normal skis your whole life, why would you buy line? maybe for the graphics, but there is no way the new line non-twintips will be able to keep up with established brands.

Its kinda like this, your into hardcore off roading, and have been driving a landrover for a while. it dies, and you need a new vehicle. are you gonna go out and buy a new porsche Cayanne (sp) just because they make great sports cars and it looks pretty? hell no!

Lets go skiing

hmm it's like this, people that own landrovers don't take them off road, making them posers, so are you saying that people that ride lines are posers>?

i think that skis graphics should be constantly changing... i mean why not? give some poor artists some work. it sucks that they're all staying the same for next year. same with the 1080's. and the 1080's don't look that good to begin with.

the darkslides are made for those who love to carve the fuck out of the groomed snow. the tip is barely off the ground. THIS IS NOT A PARK SKI!
