what do you guys think about the shit thats going down in Darfur? I have to write a paper about Darfur for my history class and i would like to get some peoples thoughts on it. I dont think that they should send any troops in ( asshole move i know) but the world runs around money, and the US, and Canada and other countries alike are not getting anything out of Darfur(other than like China) so I doubt that they are going to risk soldiers lives on something they are not going to get anything out of. what do you guys think about it?

america can't do shit military wise because china's got us by the balls.

its a shame though, we could make escaping a little easier for them, like a giant waterslide to the atlantic ocean, or a canoe to india

Basic human rights are being violated in Darfur currently, therefore intervention is necessary. It is the UN's obligation to intervene and try to stop what is taking place (crimes of humanity). Personally I think that battle is more important than any battle over oil is, at this point in time.

the fact that the UN cant intervene is because china gets a shit ton of oil from darfur, makes everyone elses shit, and has everyone elses economies by the balls and ovaries. china is in full support of getting oil so they're not gonna let anybody start a war in that country.

not only does china import large amounts of oil from sudan, it also exports weapons to sudan. China has stood up and defended the sudanese government to the UN security council. As a full time member of said council they can veto any action, so the UN can't act. Nobody will risk upsetting china due to its economic importance.

situation there is so fucked, i dont see a way out in the near future.. or the future for that matter

There is 0 oil in Darfur. Sudan does have a lot of oil, yes, but not in Darfur. The world needs to pressure China to pressure the Bashir government to shape up - the possibility of losing Chinese investment would make them think twice before doing the kinds of things they've done in Darfur, not to mention in the war against the south.
