Dangers of skiing in the summer

Check out this slide near snowking mt WA late May. Wouldn't want to be caught in that.... Just reminding everyone to check the avalanche reports before hiking anywhere this summer.

If there was that much snow on the mountains around here I'd probably be jumping around in joy right now... When was that? Because I live in BC and I don't think any mountains within quite a large range of where I live would have even close to that much snow left. Just little/big glaciers left around. The big ones have gnarly crevasses. That slide is gnarly though.

That was late may, I know its now June but I just went skiing on a snow field this weekend and saw a slide path (20-30 yards wide).... thats up on Mt. Rainier we were at about 9000 to 10,000ft though.

Ok yeah. I bet higher elevation stuff like that would have lots still... Good caution. Not too many people who need to worry about it though haha.

most avalanche reports end once things start to corn up. and pretty much when it comes to summer skiing, get in and out early. you obviously dont want to be out on that slope during the heat of the day. but by the time its summer snow pack its probab not going to slide because the snow is consolidated junk.
