Dancing with the stars

Just saw a commercial for dancing with the stars and such greats as Bristol Palin and Mike "the situation" are on. Not that i watch the show, but what makes these people "stars"? We have a teen mom and a guido. Just wondering what you guys think about this

jersey shore is the most watch show on tv son!never watched DWTS either but i am going to watch just for the fact the situation is on it.

I guess im just concerned with where our society is going. Like j-shore is a train wreck that you can't help but watch and subsequently get drunk too...
