Dancing wick candle timelapse test

here is a timelapse test i did a few days ago. i want to get more creative with what i do, and the lenses that i use, so i thought this would be cool.

this timelapse took about 3 hours for it to burn out. got over 5000 photos used, and the damn compression makes it look worse. but i liked how it turned out. used some ellie goulding music, thought that seemed appropriate.

give it a watch and any feedback once again is great

and if you can't tell i love to do timelapses

haha nice man! Weird, but I was actually really bored last night and did the same exact thing, same looking candle too. Unfortunately my battery died out before it finished burning. Next time I know i'm buying some of the quick burning candles to save myself some troubles. Came out good though!

I know it was probably tough to tell how long it was gunna take the candle to go out, but 5000 seems like a ton of photos haha. Before I set mine up, I try and do some quick math about how long I want the video to be to save my camera's shutter from taking 5000 pics in one night. like a 30 second timelapse * 30 fps = 900 shots. 3 hrs = 180 min, so I need a shot like every 10 seconds or so. I'm sure you probably know about that and just wanted to air on the safe side, but hopefully others will find that helpful.

Nice work btw, that is weird the quality isn't what you wanted because the quality on mine always ends up better than I expected because I have to shrink down my photos from 18 MP down to 1080p or whatever the output is

haha thats pretty funny. i am going to experiment more with candles, especially ones tht burn faster. thanks though man!

yea i did the math as well, i just wanted to see how it would turn out if i did a 60th of a second shutter speed with a photo every 2 seconds. i think the vimeo compression on the 720p reduced the quality.

word, im actually doing one right now, i'll try and post it up when it's done. it's def. going much faster than the one last night

i actually love elli goulding, but holy fuck! why did your video emit that high pitched noise as soon as it started?
