after watch the candide invitational i've realized those guys are progressing way more then anyone in north america. never before have i seen suck sick jumps and the shit they're doing off them is amazing. freeskier messed up in naming tanner as the #1 skier in my opinion. props to andide and all the other guys out there doing that crazy shit.

what separates the two is that candide does not try to be some hard/bad ass like Tanner. it is way easier to respect him for that. skiers who are mellow and chill about their abilities rather than those who flaunt it are going to be the new leaders.

 
it's not fair to judge, i'm not sure if tanner was invited and whatnot but it's not like he could hit those jumps if he wanted to at this point, and you gotta remember, tanner got hurt doing a switch nine at chads.

^^ Their approach to the newschool scene is dope. Different types of hits, and features. When I first say the video I was thinking the same thing EastCoast was. But to say Tanner isn't on that level is crazy.

 
First off, its not really a competition, its more just a freeride event....

and secondly, i think Candide is way better than Tanner. Tanner makes shit look good, but he doesnt really do anything new anymore, its just the same stuff, over and over and over.....candide is constantly pushing the envelope with newer and bigger stuff all the time. Look at style. Tanner has good style, but its a lot like a lot of other skiers. Candide does shit waaaay different than other skiers in the way he does stuff like tweaking and corking....after looking at the features and watching video and pictures and all that, i would most definetly say that candide is the most progressive skier out there. maybe not smoothest or most stylie, but definetly the most progressive...

Its hard to compare them. Candide is going a diffrent way then tanner and other people. Mostly all i saw in the vid was corked spins, corked 9 tails. Tanner has alot of diffrent varration and sw shit. This goes in compareing alot of pros with other pros.

 
sure candide is good but tanner is way better.... he's done mroe for skiing than candide, candide goes big but tanner is more of an all rounder

 
All i have to say is those features t the invitational were amazing, i loved every second of those clips!! I really really want to see more of that shit here!!

Candi deserves so much more creds than he gets over here but just watchin that hes obviosly his own mogul in Eroupe

I don't think anyone really agrees with freeskier's list... I think tanner deserves first because he has been a big influence, and good skier, and comp winner... But candide deserves second

that is so very debatable. dont forget that candide put x-games skiing on the map as much or more than tanner did. he also hit chads gap eons before tanner hit it and did the same trick. and think about his influence on the european ski scene...

true but... tanner was the first to hit chad's switch, I mean fucking cork 9's and shit in chad's thats awesome, i mena candide is good don't get me wrong but i reackon t$ is way better

 
yeah i suck at life, i was to quci to say the 810 doesn't require any skills, it does. candides rodeo 7 or whatever it was back in the day was very huge, but tanners 7 in wski was sooo smooth. I don't know i just don't really think that candide is better.

Candide goes big all the time.Like in ski movie 3, we was hitting the 25feet level. Everyone else didn't.

Tanner got more style. I just love watching his rip the place.

So its hard to compare both skiers.

they're both awesome skiers. tanner def does rails beter than candide, but candide looks just SO smoooth when he does his shit. i just wish he would do more than tailgrabs (they look sick though)

personnaly i prefer candide, and yea i would of put him atleast 1st or 2nd on the top. candide invitational was pretty much revolutionary.

honesltly Canidide and CR Johnson proved that shiers could compete in the spotlight with Snowboarding, Tanner is just emphasizing the point, Again I think Canidide is a better SKIER, Tanner a better Jibber.

yeah, back with ski movie 3, that massive hip thing was crazy (how big was the gap?) and the fact that he could get so much hang time without getting hell sketchy is beyond me.

i think that it takes more skill to 810 onto a rail then hit chads switch, tanner hits jumps switch ALL the time so hitting chads switch is just like what hes been doing for years but bigger, candide didnt just take something that hes already done to the next level he invented a new trick and really pushed the envolope of jibbing

they both push the sport, tanner is sick and i think more kids will start skiing pow or even just bc jumps because he is doing it because way more kids look up to tanner it seems then as to candide.candide is also sick, but if you go up to a snowboarder or something and say something about candide they will most likely be like WTF?

I think that hip/table in SM3 was 110ft. But then again, he went HIGH! Doing a cork5 double grab... Sick.

And by the way, he was the first to clear Chad's, as someone mentioned (he was 16 at the time...). But when he came back the next year, he did a d-spin 720, not a "rodeo or something", as someone else said. If you browse TGRs clip of the week-archives, I think the segment in Further from Chad's is there, although I'm not sure.

 
You're right there is, but they will never get the exposure they need to go somewhere. Tanner is also where he is at because he took risks like starting up his skiing and now his film production company.
