I go to start up my computer today and I hear a weird clicking. I find out its my external HD and it has stopped working. I looked at the website and I can get a new one but fuck. Every South Park, 50 gigs of music, Curb, Some games, All of MY FUCKING PICTURES AND EDITS, And not to mention my porn. Everything is gone. Does anyone know of any place that fixes hard drives I will seriously pay 1000 bucks to fix this fucker. God dammit all to hell!

 
Where was I suppost to back it up. So now I have to buy two external hard drives. I am so fucking pissed. All my pictures like thousands of pictures.
 
Ya you can prob recover it, if it just stopped working. If it in actuality 'fried' then you could be out of luck.

This may seem a little strange, but try this...you will have to act kinda fast. Take your hard drive and put it in your freezer for about 3 hours or so, take it out, let it warm back up for like 10 minutes and see what happens. If no luck, keep trying every few minutes until its around room temperature. If it doesn't work then, either its done or you will have to get it professionally looked at.

I know this technique may seem slightly unorthodox, and it is an 'urban legend' but I've seen it work about 50% of the times I've tried it, so if its your last bet you've got nothing to lose!
 
yeah its happend to me before, lost all my videos, all my skating, snowboarding, music, pictures, edits, porn, illegal programs... shits rough, but luckily i keep all the footy on tapes and never tape over them. So i was just able to reupload all the footage I needed from the year i was working on. It took awhile though, big piss off.
 
there are places that recover stuff from broken hard drives. my friends dad had it done once because he's in research and needs all the stuff on his hd. said it costs a lot of money, like over $1000 but they can get all or most of it back. just google hard drive recovery to find some places
 
Yeah, the writers of The Simpsons lost a whole season on a crappy external hd, but they just took it into this place that makes a cast of the disk then make an exact copy, sounds expensive but it works as long as the physical disk isnt fucked
 
Ya no smoke came out or anything so I hope it can be fixed. I am in Budapest right now and I dont know if I want to trust the Hungarians with my HD. All I really want back is the ski fotage and my pictures everything else is not that important.

Is there a way to transfer your i pod songs to your computer?
 
like I said earlier dude, try putting it in your freezer for a few hours. I know its unorthodox and sounds kind of stupid but I've seen it work. My IPod hard drive fried, I did that and it has worked fine ever since. It hink it has something to do with realigning the disks and crap, i don't know. But at least give that a try before you spend a shit load of money on gettin git fixed.
 
Ok I just put it in the freezer so we will test your method. I am thinking about 2 hours from now

Do I just plug it right in or let it sit for a while?
 
You can try plugging it right in, or you can wait. I would recommend both, plug it in if it still doesn't work, try again in a few mins.

Like i said this is kinda an Urban Legend so it is not garunteed to work by any means, but I have seen it go both ways. So its worth a try in my opnion.
 
I took it out of the freezer and bam it started working I was so stoked. Then I tryed to transfer my pictures and it sat there for 10 mins then said delayed wire failure and locked up FUCK but thanks for the tip I might try it again.
