Damaged skis help plus karma

I got the new Chronics this year and have used them about five times. they do chip a lot but that's not my problem. on Saturday i was fooling around skiing through trees and hit some rocks. i went out of control and fell onto my right shoulder. my skis popped off and hit a tree. my right ski was untouched but my left was not so lucky. in the top of my left ski it hit the tree i am assuming and bent, not snapped bent. it bend very slightly but the top sheet has a line where it has bent and it looks like the sheet raised along this line. its hard to explain withought pictures, which i will post if anyone needs them. you can also tell the left ski in the area it bent is raised higher than my right. i am wondering wether this is a huge deal, i could care less about the topsheet unless it affects my skiing. but i am afraid the bend will mess me up or eventually snap if there is too much pressure (from something like a nose butter) like i said it has bent and you can see the difference, but it doesnt seem like it will affect me nor is the bend huge, it jsut fucked up the topsheet with this big line cross where it bent. pictures later. plus karma to anyone who helps. thanks

I doubt it actually bent. Because most of lines ski's are wood core. Pictures would be nice though. It doesn't sound like it would affect much though.

sounds like you maybe cracked the core, which is bad, but line is a really really really good company when it comes to warranty. send them some pics of the damage as well as a copy of a store or online reciept via email and they should send you a new pair or just one new replacement ski. dont mention that you did it in the woods.

i have to leave the house for 2 hours when i am back i will. its hard to see the line because it is which and the chronic has white lines all over it but you can see the bend sort of.

oh and i forgot to mention there are the black birds on the base as a graphic, and one of the wings is poking out so the bend went to the base also

out of curiosity what size are they?
its hard to know the extent of the damage without seeing them it but it could just be the topsheet thats cracked or the core as well.. my bacons escaped and ran into a tree and now there is a crack in the topsheet that goes all the way across the early taper. i have been nose buttering and all that good stuff and it has held up just fine but every situation is different.

Hate to say it, but it looks to me like you have cracked/snapped the core.. The ski on the left rises before the one on the right, and that suggests core damage. I would imagine if you send the skis to Line, with a receipt, they will warranty them. Line has a good reputation. Like said above, don't mention that they hit a tree.I'm not an expert but thats the way it looks and it happened to me..

To me it doesn't look too bad. If it doesn't affect your skiing I wouldn't worry about it. It you are still afraid of further damage of breaking take it to a ski shop and talk to someone professional. It really doesn'r look too terrrible

im going to take them to my shop at my mtn. on sunday and daddy not gonna be too happy

more help is appreciated. i dont wana warranty them if they aren't broken for sure.

Well to me it definitely looks like core damage. I did that to a couple of pairs of skis and it was the core. The fibreglass will hold the ski together but i guess if you flex that area it will feel softer than the rest of the ski. If you have a spare pair of skis, I would ski those and warranty depending on what your shop says, if you bought the skis there, they should do the warranty for you.

well i dont butter too often on them since they are a bit stiff and its not like i flex that area too often anyways. my parents will flip if i tell them i broke them already so i might just wait until january. im taking a trip to colorado over break so i want to keep them till then because i dont know how long the warranty takes. and i dont have another pair. will they hold up for like 7 more days? oh this also brings me to another question. any good excuses?

This is a pure guess, but I think they'll probably hold up 7 days.. Your best bet might be to ski them as long as possible if you don't have access to another pair you can borrow. Or rent pow skis out west?
as for excuses.. depends what your parents know about skiing.. maybe claim someone skied over them? Although the truth seems pretty inoffensive.. not really your fault.. As long as they don't ban you from trees or something I don't see the problem..

im just gonna say at the end of our trip since im skiing with my dad(ugh) some little kid fell getting of the lift and i fell over him(true story) there was a mark on the ski but i thought nothing of it until it got worse. yeah.. lets go with that. oh but they will be fine on jumps pow rails and everything?

your ski is broken. however, it will probably be fine to ride for a while but it may cause your ski to hook. i broke my tips and tails on my older chronics but further from the tips and tails so both of my skis have tip and tail rocker. your skis should be fine but if i were you i would warranty them some time in the near future

yeah man just tell your parents the truth, shit happens and it was better the ski then your shoulder. im kinda in the exact same situation as you except 181's and the tree was a box...

oh believe me i would have told him already its just he hates the park and he knows alot about skiing he just dislikes me doing park and basically the day i broke them told me he wasnt going to support me with it as much but he was jsut pissed off that day now hes over it. im going to ski them as long as i can then after the trip or whenever its necessary il tell him the truth sort of and say it jsut got worse i had never noticed it. and since its not both skis hopefully i can ski on them and line can just send me a replacement ski.

they are broken for sure. warranty them, them might give you a brand new pair of '08-'09s. if you wait too long or try to have a shop fix them youre just going to be left with a shitty broken ski and line will say "why didnt you bring them to us right off?"

So before you damaged your skis how did you like your Chronics, Im thinking about picking up a pair.

i havent hit them on jumps yet i will this weekend, on rails ehh not that great. i probably just have to get used to them.

yeah man! you wanna break in my pow skis for me?! just ski some trees when your on that trip, and you can rocker the whole ski!

Why arent they good on rails? Maybe cause they or new? or something else? And once you hit some jumps let me know how they are. really considering getting a pair.

Really? From what Ive seen of them at my shop they felt SO light, lighter than my Anthems. So idk.

ive skied on them for four days and i jumped up a large number of sizes so i think i just need to get used to them. if you want a nice stiff fast ski that you can take anywhere kills jumps and still kills rails thats the chronic. i just have to get used to mine. what are you usually skiing?

oh dude if you have the anthems definately go for the chronics. use the anthems for rails and butters and chronics for everything else.

Thats exactly what I was thinking about doing, but you think a 181cm would be the way to go? Im 6'1"

yeah no doubt. im 6' and have some 181's and i think they are the best jumping ski ever and i love them on rails too.

Ok Im set on getting them, I just dont know whether to wait for next years and get them with my full tilts over summer..... or get them now and mount them to my boots I have now.

Ohh one more question what bindings do you have on yours?
