Dalbello il Moro buckle/ratchet problem

I got some new il Moros and I'm stoked on em, but after two days of riding I notice that the top ratchet/buckle doesn't click anymore and doesn't seem to work right. Anybody else have this problem? And what did you do to fix it? It won't click and tighten right, and if I pull up to loosen it, it won't release unless I pull at it for a while...anybody got any advice?

Ive had the buckles bend before and i just unscrewed the whole strap and got got a replacement buckle from a snowboard binding.

sounds broke to me, but all those parts r easily replaceable, just be thank full you dont have to deal with the full tilt buckle system

Haven't touched these boots, but i have had a fair share of experiences with ratchets. From what i've experienced is they break pretty easily and are then hard to fix. And by the looks of the moro's they look plastic, and the grooves in the belt (runs through actual ratchet) don't look very deep. they probably lost their grooves and gotten smoother leaving nothing for the ratchet to grip on to. You'll probably have to replace the parts.

my straps never were unable to click in any more, but i have snapped the plastic trap twice landing big jumps.. you can take it off and replace it with a snowboard strap that fits

hope that helps!

enjoy the boots,. DB is a the best stuff out there

thanks guys +k to all of you. do you think it would be covered under warranty? or would the shop i bought them from replace them do you think?

i doubt it would be covered by warranty. I have the same boots and same issues. I like to crank my boots down when I ride, and the ratchet just got chewed up trying to tighten down. I would bring to a shop, they may be able to do a custom fit with a top buckle instead of the ratchet.

awesome thanks bro 10/10. yeah i know how you feel, i like to make them real tight at the top as well, and the ratchet isn't always the best for that

i have il moros as well and was always slightly worried about blowing trough the top buckle. I am only 120lbs or so though, but i'm 19 so i'm just small, still doing tricks. I wonder if you could get someone good with metal to make a metal buckle for it?

go back to your ski shop and they should get u free replacement straps. use the dalbello straps. also order extra ratchets the piece the strap slides into. those have a tendency of breakin might have to pay $ 15-20 for those tho. great boot but had same problems

so i have a working buckle now, but it just doesn't tighten all the way, it still feels like its not tight to my leg. i was wondering if a booster strap would work to help out?

Booster straps are never a bad thing but I can't see that its really necessary on the Il moro.

You just gotta get that rachet working properly or swap it out for a metal buckle.

I still blow through mine every time I crash hard, next time i'm up in whistler i'll ask the shop I got them from to sort em out for me. Hopefully they'll be able to a buckle swap for me.

ok cool thanks bro +k. anybody else have any ideas? at least with regards to the booster strap, or making them tighter?

This is why the Rampage is an infinitely better boot - It has a top buckle instead of that silly ratchet thing.

I've seen some work and last forever, I've also seen some blow out after 4 days of use and had to warranty the things for a customer. Ultimately, I suggest to everyone that they contact dalbello and get a top replacement buckle for them just in case.

I broke the ratchet buckle on my Il Moros. Hated that thing. If you want Dalbello boots, then Krypton Pros are the best in my opinion.

Agreed. When i bought mine they had sold out of krypton pro's but had il moro's. Same boot, iI love em, but the krypton pro buckle+strap is just better than the il moro system.

so do you suggest just getting a replacement ratchet thing or a replacement buckle (like the buckles on the lower part of the boot)? also for the problem i was describing just barely above, how it will tighten, just not tighten enough to my leg to be really tight, would a booster strap work or solve that problem? i already put all of you guys that have responded at 10/10 haha, otherwise id give you more karma

I'd just call up dalbello, and see if they can send you a buckle instead (it's probably cheaper than the whole ratchet deal anyways for them - since its not a specialty part)

I'd just talk to them. Dalbello is almost always pretty damn good at that stuff...

I got sick of my chewed up strap. what I did was to take the back cuff from an older krypton rampage (Part that runs along your calf, has the top two buckles attached to it), and attach that to the il moro shell. Pretty much just makes it into the krypton rampage/pro just with rasta graphics.

Option A call dalbello and ask for replacements they are extremely helpful and want to help, Option B you can replace to section with rampage buckle same cuff fitting, Option C get snowboard letters and replace them your self Option C wait until next year when they release the new ill moro with improved top buckle

sorry i didn't read all the responses they will absolutely be covered by warranty or at least they will send you new parts
