Dalbello help

Recently I got some 2010 Dalbello Krypton Kingstons for 100$ from my local shop, I tried them on and they felt that they fit a lot better than my previous boot Full Tilt Konflicts which got really bad after I had them heat molded, so I bought them. Today I went for a quick backyard sesh and got very bad shinbang, I did some buttering and hit my rail but only for about 20 mins before it hurt too bad. My question is will the shinbang get better if I use them? should I put intuition liners in them?

Also My town doesn't have a bootfitter (the nearest one is about 9 hours away).

Either:

A) Your boots don't fit right

B) You need to tighten them more

C) You're landing backseat

D) Two of the above

E) All of the above

Ok to work out the size you need to do a shell check. To do this you want to take the liner out of the boots and put your foot inside the shell. From there move your foot forward until your toes are on the front of the shell. Then if you reach behind your heel you should have about 2cm of space or a snug 2 finger fit. That will tell you the length. Next check the instep. Move your foot off the front and align your knee so the center of your knee cap is over your second toe. Then reach down to see how much room is over the instep. It wants to be 1.5-2cm space.

Do these two and see how things look. There are a few more checks but these too will give a good starting point. Do this and report back.

Ok I shell checked them and I can fit about two fingers with a bit of space in the heel and over the instep I have about two fingers also but more snug.

Yep they sound a bit big, but luckily not too bad. The fact they are hurting your shins confirms that they are prob too big. You need to get some of the volume taken up. You need to prob raise your foot, and probably surporting it could help. Really though you need a boot fitter to take a look. It may be that they are just too big, and wont be worth working on, but hopefully not.

How often do you go away top ski? That will be your best time to get fitted if you really have no fitters around you.

I am probably not going anywhere this year. But what can I do now to make the better. how should I take up volume and support my foot?

Try going back to your local shop where you got them and see if they have any boot foam they can add to the boot board and liner. They can add foam to te boot board as a volume reduced then add foam to the liner to help secure your foot. If the shop does not sell custom footbeds you could get a trim to fit but I don't think its worth it for these boots as they are never going to fit that well and this is more to hold you over until you can go get fitted properly.
