Dakine Mission Photo vs Dakine Sequence Photo

Hey guys,I need to pick up one of these packs before christmas. I realize the sequence is a little bit bigger, but I dont want it to be so big that its a pain in the ass. Here is what I would be hauling:

Canon t3i

Canon 50mm f/1.4

Tamron 17-50

Nikon 80-200 f/4

Intervalometer

Go pro with cables

A couple memory cards

3 filters

Manfrotto 701/055 XB legs

Glidecam 2000 pro

Manuals

A few extra batteries

Small random stuff

And maybe a small fleece jacket or something

Typically, I wont be carrying both the glidecam and the tripod at the same time. One or the other.

So which one should I get?

they have the exact same camera block, but the sequence has more pockets/straps, has diagonal ski straps, waist pockets, and look better IMO

i vote sequence, I like mine compared to the non photo mission I use to have when comparing everything but the camera block

Thats what I was thinking. Is the sequence to bulky to the point where it is a pain in the ass on the lift? Also, is it strong enough to carry my tripod?

^ post the gear you have that you would like to cary in it. So far, i love mine. The camera block is huge but i wish there was more room in the other zip up pocket. Pretty comfortable. I have had both my glidecam and manfrotto 701/055 on it at the same time and its not to bad. Well worth the money. This is the seqence by the way

oh perfect yeah cuz right now i don't have any lenses besides whats on my 60D just the kit lens :( with the maunauls and extra battery/charging stuff, ill have two other gopro's to put in it, some of the basic mounts for those, (chest, pole, little baggie of mounts or whatever) and i will be getting a glidecam hd2000, tripod (just cheapo little one for now) and maybe some water or gatorade since i usually can't ski with a drink i figured having a backpack would be awesome for that and a snack.

and while we're on the subject how do you like your tripod setup and what camera do you shoot with? i was looking at that same head and possibly same legs

This is what I keep in my bag: T3i, 50mm, Tamron 17-50, soon to be Canon 70-200, Go pro, Rode mic, Lav mic, 3 filters with cases, a zip up bag think of a bunch of misc cords, intervalometer, evra quick release, a few plastic bags, and a pocket knife. This is pretty much full. If you put in a little bit of thought into arranging it, you could probably fit more. There are 2 side pockets on the outside which arent big, but can fit a wallet, cell phone, manuals, filters, cords, ect. Then theres the medium sized pocket which can fit a laptop up to 15 inches. I dont find this pocket useful at all because its not really wide enough to put more equipment in. Theres a few zip up pockets in it where I put my batteries, memory cards, and go pro mounts. If you dont put a laptop or whatever in this pocket, you could for sure fit a small fleece, a neck warmer, and an extra pair of gloves if packed very neatly. If you have a big gatorade bottle, or water bottle, this might be difficult to find a place to put it. Im taking into consideration getting a camelback hydration pouch (just the pouch and not the packpack) and putting it in the medium sized pocket with a tube coming out for water. Only problem is, you have to make sure it will not leak or the shit thats in that medium sized pocket is fucked. You could also fit a few snack in some places. Its a great bag, the only thing it lacks is space for misc stuff IMO. But unless your touring in the BC, or going on hikes in alaska with survival kits, this is a great bag.

I love my tripod so far. On it I typically have the Canon t3i, Tamron 17-50 and the rode mic. I have not had any problems yet what so ever. If you plan on expanding to things such as matte boxes, rail systems, follow focus; I would recommend picking up the 501. I was in the debate about geting the 501 vs 701 and the 190 legs vs 055 legs. For the head, this really depends on your setup. If your not getting crazy with extra things on your camera, go for the 701. Its much smaller and compact, and have heard it works much better in the cold then the 501. For the leg, for sure get the 055XB legs. Went to my local camera store and tried out the 190 legs, hated them. There a little to flimsy for my liking. At least for video purposes. If you think you are going to be upgrading in the near future to a camcorder such as the HVX or EX1, ect, then take the Sachtler ace into consideration. But with just the 60D, the 701 will be fine, Like i said unless your getting crazy with attachments So if I were you, I would for sure go with the 701 and 055 XB legs. You wont be disappointed.

awesome thanks for the details. yeah i probably won't be going too crazy with attachments. probably, a least for a while, just a rode mic, and possibly a little beefier lens than what i have now is all so i think it would be fine.

i think the bag would probably be perfect cuz i don't have a lot of excess camera gear yet. just need it to be able to hold a glidecam and/or tripod while i ski to knuckles or spots to film from but it sounds like you have no problems with it. thanks for the help!
