Daily Throwdown 14/15

got switch 2 ons at elm today. was only there for an hour and half or so because its was windier than all hell.

Heck yea! That trick is beyond me for any rail with a lip lower than the rail. I hit hyland yesterday, didn't get anything new, just messed around and enjoyed the soft fresh snow which was unbelievably fun to ride in.

Went to Andes yesterday. Battled 30 mph winds all day and had to teach the park crew head how to build lips. Definitely not the funnest day on the slopes.

However, luckily the lift ticket was only $15.

Popped my pow cherry on Dec 31st At Eagle Wind Winter Park. Rode line step ups and no poles and ate shit most of the day. Best day of skiing I've ever had.

Did my first cork in two years. First over rotated to a near perfect cork 5. Second one a little forward but I landed than fell trying to revert back.

hit the most fun pow ever at Breck last weekend. shit was amazing. then hit some awesome snow in Abay. and 2 days before that did some chill laps of key, nothing big.

here locally, just trying to get my rail tricks back and my jump balls back. afton big jumps are up, i'm nervous...

For the first time ever i spun super at hyland. Then preceded to rip my pants again. Considering maybe trying to get a warranty cover from saga because i only rode them for 5 days before they tore in the first place/

friend called last run, went for sw 2 on, popped too early and caught big time. I now have a third knee on my shin and my left hand barely works. not my friend anymore.

Got 3s n 5s on afton's "big" line. Super fun day, Afton was literally empty (never seen it that empty) and the jumps were prime.

How big are they? I saw the video of Goepper hitting the second one and it looked quite large for a midwest jump (and surprisingly well shaped)

Got a backflip this past weekend where my skis hit my helmet followed by a rodeo 7 on spirits 2nd and 3rd jumps. NY resolution = more backflips.

Also, was at buck hill a week earlier and chatted with a worker who did a sick hand drag cork 3 on their second jump. Whoever you are, props.

first one's a fun, poppy step over/step up thing, probably 20-25? i'm not a good judge of that. second is pretty darn "big", probably 40ish. not as poppy though. still awesome.

Tried a 3 on Spirits left jumps now that they made them bigger (was throwing 3's on them on Wednesday) and over rotated to what my friends were saying could have been a 5. Unfortunately I panicked after the 3 and tweaked my knee, gunna try again tomorrow.

failed urban mission turned into a successful backyard pvc mission. a surprising and miraculous ray charles happened (reminiscent of the one in seany j's mutiny seggy but on a much much smaller rail), also kinda learned (didn't slide whole rail but landed) sw tails 2 on after cranking my toe piece DINs to the sky, really stoked on it because I didn't think I could ever figure it out.

it really sucks when everyone you typically hit urban with bails :*(

i know, he's very good and i'm well, not. but a kid can dream. only said it because the blind pretz 2 basically came out of thin air and the first thing that came to mind was that awesome shot.

otherwise, got my first front swap on an urban rail and set a new overshoot world record one the last jump of hyland's small park. It was intentional, but I went 2x bigger than I meant, completely missing anything resembling a landing. I should've broken my leg.

it's all good! tone is impossible to convey online. that being said, rails are just about all I do, you got me on jumps. we should play tag team snow/skate/slvsh against some people. I'll make it out to afton one of these days, I promise.

Hyland is pretty fun right now...for hyland standards. Pretty empty too for 4-5 on a weekday

Got a few tricks back I haven't done in a couple years. Getting fucking old, but feels good

damn, missed you. I was out there from 7:15-9, I personally hate the setup but it's still fun to get out and ride, especially when you have a fresh inch of snow to make the park playful instead of painful. my trick of the day was a nosepress stall to scorpion. I'm still trying to break in my new skis, they're stiffer than my old ones right now which makes the handling weird. Dulled the edges but most rails still feel pretty sticky.

Anyone heading to Afton this weekend? Looking to hit those jumps

i won't be there but the jumps are good! only thing I can think of is that they might be rock hard... they probably melted a bit this week and now they're freezing again. should be ok though

Lapping pencil at hyland, tried a front swap to the tip of pencil, got it. Told my friend to film my next hit, got the cleanest kfed of my life off the tip of pencil. It was the coolest thing I think I've done this season.

For you duluth people, do you know if the ski hut has any 180 danollies left? Also do they do proform pricing there? Gracias

only asking because icelantic is out of their "proform stock" on their website

Very tempted to try a 270 onto a drop rail that has about a 15 foot gap to a 10 foot flat bar. Will post results tomorrow

I've been out with a strained bicep for about 2 weeks, going tomorrow or saturday hopefully. Super excited!

Checked out Chester Bowl for the first time. Was actually a pretty fun place to ski for what it is. Will be going back!

I'm looking to make a road-trip down to the cities. Wondering who has the best setup between elm, hyland, afton and troll.

Also anyone in bemidji trying to ski?

I would say Troll is the best place to ski, especially if you want rails

Ok so I went to mt la crosse this weekend and I can honestly say that it was amazing! There are 2 nice medium sized jumps, 2 poorly designed medium sized jumps, and there's 1 big jump. The big jump is about 2 feet taller than me and its 30 feet to the landing apparently. Also there's quite a few nice rails and boxes.

I disasterEd a feature for my firet time and I also learned how to tail grab (cross skis, grab tip of tail. I'm pretty sure that's a tail grab right?).

Sounds sick, and I think you're thinking of a blunt grab

I fell on Troll's stairs the other day. After years of successfully navigating the grated stairs at Troll, I took my first slam after having one too many. Hit my elbow and cut my hand lol, pretty badass.

Fuck that rail lol

Good chance that it's the steepest dfd in any park. Borderline illegal for liability reasons. If you don't hit the first flat right you will literally die. I'm just trying to get comfy with it but it just ain't happening haha

Everyone and their grandma should make their way to Madison, WI this weekend. Saturday night from 5-9 will be the annual Hoofer's rail jam on Observatory Hill. Here's the recap from last year:
