Daily Throwdown 13/14

Won a contest a while back on trolls fb page so me and my buddy got free tickets, went out today and learned handrails with true urban on and final landed some 3's after trying them all season. Good day

can finally 540, for the longest time i havent been able to get past a 180, now i broke that habit i have no problem

This weather is dope. Trollhaugen has been so much fun as well. Tomorrow night is the 2nd shift rail jam at troll and party. Come out! Lift tickets 15$ 6pm-3am, tons of snow and rails.

I saw a boarder nearly die going for a double cork off super at hyland last night. He took it straight to the back. Gnarliest crash I've seen all year.

learned grab (high safety i guess) on rails yesterday. pretty hyped because i typically look stupid on rails but that looked a lot better on film. finally getting my style to look better

Was last day of my trip in colorado and I don't feel like bringing my skis back up to school. Especially because I don't even know if the hill there will be open next weekend. Also it's really hard to go from skiing out west to a 190ft vertical hill, especially when the park setup there has been the same all year

Park will be closed for a comp and it's spring fling so its gonna be packed as shit. Unless you wanna compete or water skip i'd stay away from afton today

I want to go skiing today but it will be like china town and gaperville became one at spirit. No thank you i will wait until tomorrow.

Took my yearly trip to lutsen and they aren't really the best jump builders........

Here's a jump where they forgot to build a landing.

Not sure what this is.

but nobody goes to Lutsen for their park, it was kind of fun to take a break and just cruise down a long hill for once. snow was pretty crusty (a week of 40 followed by -24) but still fun!

their park used to be a lot better. there was a nice floaty step over jump about 3 years ago i think. maybe it's the law of averages- other northern minnesota places are getting much better (giants ridge) so someone has to go down.....

Yikes. They don't groom the parks much either so features tend to be rock solid. I was up there for three days in late December and I don't think they even groomed the rail/box features.

Anyone have estimations on how late the season is going to go this year? I won't be back in Minnesota till April 18th and I'm fiending for some skiing.

Lutsen is guaranteeing skiing until 4/20, not joking. Looks like you're in some luck! But really hoping for some late season storms like last year though...

Ate shit on a rail hard yesterday. It was probably the most pathetic rail attempt I have ever seen. Here, look!

1. That rail looks absolutely godforsaken and tetnus harboring

2. Get more speed, commit to the spin and commit to the slide! Committing is the most important (and hardest) part for beginners (at least for me). That rail wasn't helping matters, though.

I was hitting my PVC flat tube rail this afternoon because Hyland closed. Was pretty much seeing what was possible when I'm desperate and not afraid of getting hurt at all. Managed to get a front 3 swap on it, far from clean but countable haha

Lol that's literally the best rail at coffee mill and it's bent to shit. I'm getting a pass at mt. La crosse next year instead.

Front change to bfed on a 10ft rail. I'm going to try to get a triple change on it today, possibly even add a blind 2 to that. This is spring skiing.

I'll be going back to coffee mill on Sunday for what will probably be its last day open. I'm gonna try to get footage of me grinding that rail. I got beef with it!

idk about that.. mt. lacrosse isn't the greatest either. I have ridden there for like 6 years but at least you'll meet some nice people, and the rails will be better than coffee mill for sure! I am going to be in rochester for college next year so i won't be there often but there's some people that you could ski with if you needed

I didn't get to do the rail this week because the jump got carved on and it iced over so you'd just catch whenever you tried. Also, I didn't film a 360 because the big jump was practically broken (not enough speed, no lip, no pop), but I did get a new grab. I think it's a critical? I'll post a video.

Also, I talked to the guy at coffee mill and he said that the person in charge of the park this year just left without putting up most of the features, so that's why it was worse than usual. I'll also be helping out with building the jumps and rails for next year! I might even be designing the whole park, and there could be a new run put in with park features on it too.

Yup thats a critical.

And thats dope! Riding a park that you designed and built is such an awesome feeling. Even if all the features you have to work with are sub-par it makes it so much more fun!

Yeaph i know right? I'm so pumped! Especially since I was one of the very first people to find out that the owner wanted to make another park run, and the first park built on the run will be built be me :D

95 percent sure that 4bi9, Level 1, (and possibly Stept) are in Minneapolis/St. Paul shooting urban right now. I know for sure that 4bi9 has been here (a friend of mine ran into their crew at a Leann Chins), also I was scoping out a rail and found a lip they made as well as a lands end beanie. I'm really stoked to see all their new movies!

4bi9 is in MN right now. Well at least Steve stepp and mcchesney for sure are.

There are crews here every year, its pretty fucking awesome. The year that wallisch did a 450

onto harding dub kink, my friend was the one that cut the lock on the gate he closed haha

That's so tight! My friend said they had around 7-10 guys, he's a snowboarder and he only recognized Steve stepp haha but he said he thought one of the guys was wallisch.

Although I'd like to see more virgin spots in movies (it's a pet peeve of mine when I see a spot everyone has hit before), I've been sending a few out to some crew members that look good. Hoping to see the results...

Yeah I'm pretty sure level 1 was in the superior/Duluth area on one of the ships filming some urban. Get stoked.

So Im sitting here on my day off missing skiing a lot and watching old edits. I have only gone 5 times this season. Last season I went 120+ times... Gonna have to go ride on Friday. Here is last years season edit.

Hopefully coming back home tomorrow morning for saturday and sunday skiing, going to buck on saturday, then maybe trollhaugen on sunday.

-Sammy Carlson was on my plane from Minneapolis to Salt Lake City.-Skied deep powder on a mountain for the first time in my life.

-Jared Allen was on my plane from Salt Lake City to Minneapolis.

Its all on this week!! we wont know till the end of the week. Park was amazing this weekend stoked to see a few skiers out there as well everyone was killing it.

Yeah with all the above-freezing nights coming up it may be over. Are they any late season rail jam sort of things planned? Last thing I wanna do is come back to no skiing :(

Slushstorm! Got probably about an inch where I live, 25 miles north got over 10 inches. Might try to get out on an urban mission tonight...

I refuse to admit my season is over. There's a big pile of snow near my house so I'm planning to set up some rails and shred in the 75 degree weather today. Will post pics later

I haven't been skiing since early March. I never even realized it was over, just stopped going the last couple weeks and then every place closed. I'm fucking pissed too because I'm going to college in Rochester MN next year and I won't have a car. Hopefully I can find some people to hitch a ride with to Afton or somehwere
