Daily Throwdown 13/14

Got my first surface b-fed at troll yesterday after hardly being able to front change last year.

#startedfromthebottom

switch ups over kinks, i finally have the balls to hit hard rails and trick them, and other rail stuff.

this is gonna be a goooood season.

It's freakin bomb as hell! they got 3 normal runs, a mini park (2 flat rails and a box), and Valhalla (quad kink, dub kink, couple 20-30ft flat rails, 25ish ft flat box, the WU rail, pole jam, and they set it up creatively). All the lips to the rails are ollie on, some of them are big ollie ons.... I hit one of them, didn't quite get my feet on top of the rail, did an accidental nosepress, thought i was going to lose some teeth. But the setup doesn't matter as much as the fact that you are skiing two weeks before thanksgiving.

It is snowing because it is late November. Allen, why are you building a bike in late November?

Hyland has their bombest small park setup in years, pencil is in a bad spot (people hit it from both sides of the mini woods) but fun. When it got crowded, i went exploring. The Bunny hill had a magic carpet covered up by corrugated tube. I have been scared as shit to hit corrugated tube, but just eased into it. Hittable section was about 55-60 feet long.

Anyways, after well over 100 tries, i got the longest jib i've done so far by greasing the 55-60 foot long corrugated tube. I was screaming from dat stoke.

Learned a lot of fun stuff today and really enjoyed shredding Afton's moguls. It'll be a good season, now i just need jumps.

Except I completely fucked my binding (unrepairable) so now i need new bindings. That's good cuz fuck marker

It's on a paved incline leading to a blacktop at a closed school, not on stairs. The rail was pretty much just put there for no reason. Also, I'm not down to jack my skis up or get hurt by shoveling all the snow off the pavement. Call me a pussy.

On the last afton jump I hucked a 9 or a 10... I don't know... I died hard but i went for it. I don't fucking know how to land big spins!

Hell yeah. I got to ride mine for the first time today and it was $$$$. They're both wider and longer than my old chronics but they felt so much quicker and all around more fun to ride.

Went to afton, I was disappointed to say the least, all those rails just sitting their. Also the jumps weren't too great either.

stfu webb the jumps are primo.

anyway, i want to fucking ski! this muscle contusion in my leg can suck itself. i'm ready to throw down

Shredded my backyard setup today and went from being a complete pussy on rails to being a little less of a pussy. I'm not sure what it is about rails that sketch me out but I'd rather 3 a forty foot booter than back 270 off a rail.

Literally no knuckle to speak of on the first jump, no matter where i landed i felt like i cased it. Second jump was pretty good. You have to take the biggest speed check ever to make sure you don't overshoot the third jump.

I think the hill is just a little too steep for a jumpline.

Anyways im on my way out there to lap that bitch until it gets crowded

The first one isn't a jump really. It's just a setup. No one throws tricks on it anyway. Otherwise, the other two are cash money. And that hill is steep and short, they're doin what they can

Shredded lutsen today. They have A LOT of snow. There were spots on some of the ungroomed tree runs where there was over two feet of pow, and i almost wished i was on an actual pow ski. Parks suck though. Mogen isnt even worth mentioning and timberjack only has two icy and poorly shaped jumps plus a battleship box (actually pretty nice) and then a big Aframe box in a really bad spot so you cant boost it at all.

I saw all the snow they got. Usually if you go there over winter break it blows chodes, but I wish I coulda been there and shredded the mysterious and hidden tree runs that are on the map but no on ever hits. I've been to lutsen when they've had a decent amount of snow and that's pretty fun.

Afton is ok. More of a mini park setup. Very small rails. No solid flow in the park.

Jumps are ok. Have to scrub a ridiculous amount of speed for the 3rd jump. They have room for bigger. Jump landings are always in flat light. With the direction the jumps face; the sun casts a shadow on the landings. Would be easily fixed if afton would figure out how to paint the landings.

Afton's park crew is nonexistent. Been out multiple times and never seen any mantience being done.

Medski.......people like you are the reason this forum is dieing along with the entire site. Stop being a hater.....who cares if stairs arnt shoveled. By the sounds of it you would have not even touched that rail.

Sack up. You have a bruise on your leg.

^^ Yeah I dunno what they were thinking with that rail/box setup. I was under the impression that SPT was going to make a killer setup for them, but i dont know if they were even involved with anything besides the jumps.

But seriously though, they have all those nice rails set up, it doesn't take a professional park crew to set up a rail.

oh give me a break, i was joking. you can see there are no stairs there... that's why i said it. and hell no i've never touched that rail i don't live in the cities.

anyway, i agree with you about the park... the rails blow (except for the c box) and the jumps were ehhh today, even though it was warm. I really hate the flat light too, half the time that hill is dark.

I really like the landings though, easy to get to the sweet spot.

hey now my 'bruise' caused swelling and i couldn't fit into my ski boot... haha

Word on the street is they're resetting the rail park after the holidays because there have been so many complaints

thank the lord jesus. i mean, they should keep the aframe and c box... and that's it. They literally have a swath of rails just sitting behind that parking lot. plus the ones they took down (new rail and mailbox). I tried to like the rails, i really did, but I can't

They need to fix how the aframe is set up though. Right now it like throws you into the rail. The lip needs to be at the same angle as the rail

Super is definitely huge, but there are a few that rival it.

Granite Peak's big jump.

Showtime at Spirit

And Giants Ridge usually has a biggie

When I was at Spirit recently they had showtime tamed down quite a bit. It was a real nice jump, but not huge like it used to be. The rest of the jumps in the triple line were also nice but I would't say anywhere near the size and airtime of super at Hyland.

Damn that sucks.....

Just being in the air for a ridiculously long time is fun. But so is a nice jump. They need to combine the two.

Made a backcountry stepdown today in a top-secret location. It was maybe 20 feet to the kunckle with about a 10 foot drop. from takeoff to landing. fun stuff.
