Dagmar 2011-2012

skating rink conditions didn't help make my first visit very enjoyable either. The park has some good flow though, Its pretty easy to just snake around and bomb everything. (gapping the battleship box ftw)

okay lamptard..... enough is enough man this constant dagmar bashing is getting uneccesssary........

both Dagmar and Lakeridge's parks are going to be packed at this time of year, especially when hills are just opening up now and everyone is eager to come out and ride. I checked out Lakeridge on thursday night and the park was super congested and really busy, but thats expected that this time of year. I was at Dagmar today, and it was the same way. Once winter finally arrives and the season gets going, both parks will even out and it won't be overflowing with people like it is now.

And to Brock, glad you had fun your first time out! And yeah it got super icy towards the end, but that's what happens with a minimal man-made base as a result of the weather we've been having lately. I'm praying we get some natural snow soon.

I'll be at Dag for all 5 days next week, hope to see everybody come out!

nik seriously its pissing everyone off. we get it you like lakeridge, there is 3 hills in this area and they treat eachother like family. you can't just be bashing the other hills constantly because you were given a free pass to lakeridge. just keep it to your self.

theres a small hip/jump combo right beside the rainbow box and then there is a jump and another jump with a cannon on it. theres a picture of that

xzibit-wtf.jpg

meaning two jumps side by side

$ new features came yesterday morning and new features are going into the park Friday morning, all snow making is on the jump line and it should be open Saturday if all goes well!

I would honestly like to know how you know this, seeing as you dagmar is shit and lakeridge is way better, then why would you waste your time coming to dagmar?

Was their today so Thought I should give a little update.

Jumps atm are 2/3 they opened the 35 footer for like 20 minutes today. I got to hit it a few times. Its completely built but for some reason they have a fence at the pump thing above it so its impossible to get speed for it.

The only park jump run thats open is the one with the jumps on it. Jibs are still the same as when the guy above me posted those pictures except they added a picknick table box and a big flatbox.

ALSO if any one reading this is interested in Carpooling or driving me and we split gas text me

It got closed because a kid went over it and broke his shoulder. A new jump got built today.

And yeah theyre open the first, not sure of the hours though

And besides, I technically shouldn't have been saying anything without trying it for myself, correct?

Your jump line was fun. Still not a fan of the rails, but whatever, I just skied around barely trying anything and had fun with it. That's what it's all about, having fun. It's skiing.

The ones I liked were the 40 foot tube and, I guess it was the 12 foot-ish T box? I just wasn't having the greatest time on the others, I felt like I was sticking to them a good portion of the time. I wasn't exactly in the mood to do anything either, hence why I just kindof straight hit everything. Probably just me, I don't know.

ontario skiier here, wondering what these places are like. i ususlly ski up by barrie area and sometimes get to cwood. how small are the hills around here (lakeridge, dagmar, skiloft etc.) i feel like your missing out on bigger hills by skiing here... am i wrong???

definately not as many trails as places in collingwood but not that much shorter. ive only been to lakeridge but it seems like they're better for park skiing than groomers n shit

definitely missing out on bigger hills you are right. blue and louis are substantially bigger, but for alot of us Lakeridge/Dagmar are pretty close, and imo, have outstanding parks. Saves the drive way up north when these places are 20 minutes door to door

Size is not a huge deal if you just ski park. Honestly the dagmar park is almost as good as the tremblant park and its like 1/5 of the size. The only thing that dagmar really lacks for a good park is a detachable chairlift

Okay, yeah on warm days they can stick quite easily but its just the weather. Yesterday when it was freezing there was no sticking problems at all

This couldn't be more accurate. Both Dagmar and Lakeridge have amazing parks for the size of hill that they have to work with, and in all honesty most kids who ride park, only ride park in this area, so whether groomer runs are good or not isn't a huge concern for them.

yaaaa, takin a single speeder up that 128' of vertical sure does become an annoyance.

that single detachable chair alone would be worth more then the entirety of dagmar.

how about.... oh i dunno....... a half pipe??

i here those things are popular with all the kiddies these days.

can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but my local hill had a pipe for 1 season that nobody used, then the park crew fucked it up with the cutter and it just sat there unusable for about 4 years. then last year they leveled it.

thats weird.

cause every other place i have been has a pipe.

kid said only thing that could improve dagmars pipe is a detachable chair. i laughed and said how about a half pipe?

amiright??

yaimright

a pipe would be sick but personally i dont think dagmar has enough room for a half pipe. The extra cost in having to buy the equipment needed to groom it is a big factor!

thats also weird.

cause dagmar used to have a half pipe, and now they dont.

but they dont have the room for it? is dagmar shrinking in size??

for what dagmar charges for a lift ticket im sure they could splurge on a cutter.

with half pipe in the Olympics i find it ridiculous that they DONT have a pipe.

dagmars park is good for the size of dagmar, but go anywhere else and youll come back laughing.

when are some of you going to realize that??

Honestly pipe is not worth the effort and money at dagmar. They are not a big hill with unlimited resources, id prefer a 50 foot + jump over a pipe any day.

dagmar got rid of their pipe in order to have a jumpline. ask 9 out of 10 people who ride there and they will say that its a better choice. barely anyone knows how to hit a halfpipe, its not an easy thing to do, especially when dagmars halfpipe wasnt all that small. its not worth the money to maintain a half pipe when barely anyone will hit it, and it takes up space. even lakeridges halfpipe is only open so many days a year because of weather, and lakeridge has a sick pipe.

wait, i wasnt aware that things in the olympics were required to be in every park? should we make 80 foot booters in every park just cause theyre in the olympics?

your the only one hating on dagmar in here, why do you bother? everyone else is stoked on what were doing with the park this year, stop focusing on what you think is wrong with it and either look at alll the positive stuff there is, or just stop, cause we all get your point now.

dont be a bitch.

would a half pipe not make dagmar as a whole better?? of course it would.

barely anyone knows how to hit a pipe? thats news to me.

have you ever skied anywhere that has a pipe?

ive seen lots and lots and lots of people that sure seem to know what theyre

doing in one.

just because you dont, doesn’t mean nobody else does.

its not worth the money?

explain to me, how in the fuck, you would have the slightest idea of how much

it costs to provide and maintain a halfpipe? you dont. youre just assuming.

what makes you think barely anyone will hit it? that seems extremely hard to

judge considering they dont have one to even begin to calculate how many people

would use it.

Again, just because you wouldnt, doesnt mean other people wont.

again, dont be a bitch. you know exactly what i meant. With halfpipe now being

an olympic event it just surprizes me that every resort does not have a pipe.

not because it is REQUIRED, but because it is obviously more popular then ever.

Meaning more exposure to people. potentially life long skiers, or new ones, who

see pipe on tv, and want to try.

does that mean dagmar needs an olympic caliber pipe, or in your poor example

"80 foot booters", of course not. no one that rides there is or is

going to be an olympic athlete now are they? but SOMETHING would be nice,

wouldnt it.

you, like everyone else in this thread seem to share the same immature ideology

that

constructive criticism = hating.

i dont hate on dagmar. for their size and location i think they do a pretty

damn good job.

i, unlike most of you however, do not think dagmar is perfect.

the only way things will ever get better is if you think of what needs

improvement.

if everyone just stands back and collectively agrees that dagmar is perfect,

then what is there to improve?

throughout this thread ive made many serious suggestions on what i think they

could improve on.

realistic suggestions.

such as:

park passes.

more varied features catering to a larger rider audience.

reduced lift ticket prices. ($50+) comeeeeeee onnnnn.

half pipe.

these are not MY ideas, they are common things that are implemented by almost

every other ski resort i have skied at. there is a reason why these ideas exist

and are practiced.

why do i bother?

because i would love to see dagmar improve. and i hope that potentially someone

who is not as defensive as yourself will one day read some of this and agree.

That no matter how good you think something is, it can always always be better.

if this all seems like "hate" to you, maybe you should sit down for a sec. think really long and hard. re-read every word ive wrote, not just in this post. but in every post in this thread. think long and hard some more. and hopefully, eventually notice, that my supposed "hate" kinda seems alot like "love".

i just want to see it be better man, deal with it.

Sorry to break it to you man, but I don't think anybody here cares about your opinion anymore. Don't like it here then don't ride here easy as that.

Obviously there is things that need to be fixed. But when you present them like that calling him a bitch it just makes everyone think you're really immature. Can you not just offer ideas without thinking the other person is completely incompetent or even simply retarded? Cause that's the way you're making it seem. You don't so much hate on the resort you just speak extremely condescendingly towards the parkstaff.

But I forgot, you are the all-knowing master of terrain parks everywhere and can make every one perfect so please, carry on with your "love".

Maybe an Olympic sized 22 footer, Dagmar would be looking at something close to 10-15 feet. Nowhere around here could maintain a halfpipe over 18 feet except maybe MSLM.

The costs to maintain a mini, shorter style halfpipe would be a fraction of the price you listed.
