wow totally not what i expected... not really dance at all--but still super groovy! never know what to expect from daft punk
 
I've never really liked electronic music but daft punk has always tickled my fancy.maybe it's because the drums sound like drums
 
There is so much good electronic music out there that has a more organic sound instead of massive womping basslines, just have to look around.But yeah, I agree. I love hearing electronic music with some "real" instruments, so to speak.
 
Wasn't part of the entire point of this new album that they wanted to revive dance music, which is essentially dead/stale? I have a feeling they'll be playing out a lot of it as is, simply because they were trying to do something different with the album, and if they remixed the whole thing so that it sounded like every other "edm" track out there, that would entirely defeat the purpose.

Also, I can see how fans might be disappointed. HOWEVER, I have never followed Daft Punk in any way, I know like 3 of their tracks, and I had no expectations for this album. If you can get past the fact that its not what you expected though, I guarantee you it is fucking awesome.
 
exactly. even if you don't like the album's sound you have to appreciate how amazing daft punk is at meticulously crafting every single sound in every one of their songs

i think this is awesome
 
Daft has been working on this album since 2008. They wanted to come up with an album that will be always be relevant no matter how old it is. Kind of how their old albums are still popular to this day. I'm downloading it off iTunes as we speak. I'm so stoked
 
the only song so far that didn't live up to expectations was touch. it was made to seem like an awesome anthem type song and it ended up being pretty weak overall imo
 
the guitar solo in fragments of time is awesome. daft punk totally put that in there to make all of us digital love fanboys get erections

Not going to say I loved the album as a whole, but there is a nice selection of really amazing songs. Even the ones I don't particularly prefer have the amazing Daft Punk production quality that makes my rectum tingle inside
 
Which one is that? There's no song titles on the iTunes stream. I'm really diggin Moroder and a few others that have come on that I wish I could name
 
it's the last one. when you start playing the stream you can click on the album title and see the tracklist and figure out which songs correspond to which times

major favorites so far are giorgio, contact, and instant crush. casablancas is unreal, i've always been a strokes fan and it's like the absolute best strokes sound possible

2nd Listen: "Wow there are some gems in here"

3rd Listen: "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck this is a good album"
