The DARE program brought all of the 5th graders in my town into my high school today to have them all pledge to never do drugs. The lies told by our dare officer were horrifying. How was everyone else's dare experience?
 
i remember our dare program video was about this dude who was so addicted to pot that he was stealing from his mom and beating kids up for money n shit. what a joke.
 
i heard that if you do one whole marijuana you get aids!!!! remember kids weed gives you aids!! smoking cigarettes is cool and safe!!!
 
im in 10th grade. He said that marijuana will make you quit sports, fail school, go to jail and steal from your family. However heroin, crack, coke, etc. were not mentioned once. it was basically just an hour of some gaylord cop talking shit about pot...
 
I understand the officers are lying and stretching the truth, but dude these are 5th graders. the more the DARE program convinces them to not smoke weed the better. By the time they are your age they will know the truth and can make a decision on their own.
 
Yeah I know people who have done all of these things because of weed. Which isn't to say weed is universally terrible, but it does effect some people pretty badly if you smoke every day.

He probably didn't talk about harder drugs because kids your age are much less likely to do them and are harder to find.
 
might just be your school because our valedictorian who is going to Yale is a huge stoner. Most of the smartest kids in my town blaze and they all play sports and have yet to go to jail so idk.
 
IM IN THE 8TH GRADE AND I SMOKE WEED EVERYDAY! IM SO COOL ALL MY FRIENDS SAY IM BAD AND I LIKE THAT FEELING OF BEING HIGH! WHEN MY GIRLFRIEND BROKE UP WITH ME AFTER 2 WEEKS I CRIED THEN SMOKED WEED...WEED IS MY BESTFRIEND! I HAVE A GRAVITY BONG AND SO COOL! OMG WEED BLAZE IT!! REGGIE IS THE BEST WEED EVER! OMG
 
I would say the other side is that if the truth is bent so drastically about weed, it may cause a portion , who after realizing the contrast between what they were told and the reality, will move on to try hard drugs, assuming that the difference between what they were told and the reality is the same for them as it is for weed. This isn't the case for everyone, but I feel that in certain instances, this could be applicable.
 
Ya, drugz are really bad thats why i got addicted to paint thinner.

Its not a real drug so its ok!
 
They told me alcohol was a drug and that you could kill your self after 6 beers. Also that pot killed and you could overdose really easily.
 
we had D.A.R.E. and F.L.A.S.H. at the same time. Family life and sexual health. It was their version of sex ed for fifth graders. Marijuana is the gateway drug and peaches, prunes, alfalfa, and petting are the gateway foreplay.
