man don't hate on these kids... a lot of these kids just want to become good rippers and improve their style as much as possible. yea, they are rich, but who cares. they clearly are taking the sport seriously and trying to get not only themselves but the sport to progress with bigger and better tricks. its not their fault their parents are cool and can afford to send them to academies like this. all these kids from CVA this year ripped it up and i hope they continue to rip it up and push the sport even farther

 
yea they are rippers but that cuse the have enugh money to go there and rip. how is the kid that lives at a MT that barely has a park and only can get out 4-5 times a week ever compare? not only do they have good park to ski at they also have the chance to get out allmost evey day.

Alright, Let's just get this out in the open (even though its been said many times before). Skiing is an expensive sport for priveledged youth. Just how priveledged is another issue altogether. But if you are on here and are a skier, you have money, or your parents have money. If you are broke, you better have some damn good connections, but even so, how did you learn how to ski then? Your parents bought you shit at some point. Skis and boots don't grow on trees people. Let's just quit this arguement about rich and richer. Its all relative.

i know a few kids that go to CVA, and even if they are rich (which i have no clue if they are or not), they definately dont act rich or spoiled. Their just like everyone else, and these schools do have scholarships, so not everyone there is from a wealthy family

it's like college. 99% of you would crack up at the figure my family lives on. however, with scholarships and financial aid....

example, my sister is going to a 40,000 dollar college for 4 grand a year.

at the vt open one of the cva guys was offering me a scholarship. i might be able to get a scholarship on grades too because my gpa is a 98.5. its still to expensive tho

I was thinking when i siad mostly rich kids go. There parentes are shelling about ALOT of money for them to go. That is only for high school, then they have to go to college. Some of them may be getting some money but guess what, they cant give eveyone that goes there money. Most, probly 80% or more have to play full amount to go inless FASA (FASSA?) can pick some up. Going to a place that cost that much for college wouldnt make you rich cuse its college, not highschool. You have to expect there parents much have more money then other people, makeing them rich. When i say rich i mean household income above 100k or so. You dont nessacrly have to be rich to ski, hell i got my boots for birthday from my parents 2 years ago they where 70$. MY skis i bought for 200$ after working for 2 weeks puting in about 45 hours aweek. Got my bindings from aunts and uncles for birthday. Only thing that was extremly expensive was my sesion pass witch i put in 200 for and my parents and grandma puicked up other 200 for X-mass. We are not rich, we are middle middle class.

if you are going to become a pro skier go there or CRMS in carbondale.. those CVA kidas are some amazing skiers.. marion and corey v to name a few... they rip and they are nice kids so anyone hatin can go fuk themselves, its a great school and sure it may cost alot but they are getting a great education as well.

i know 2 kids that go there for free cause they have a house at the loaf, and if you live there you can go for free. and one of the kids is my teachers son and she isnt rich, so i know that they are not all rich.

I dont hate them just for the recored, what im trying to say is that how are other people going to beable to compet? If it gets to a point where the people that have the most money get to become the best thats not progresion.

however nice someone is, the fact is even if most of us here are 'upper middle class', we could never dream of affording a school like that and those kids are more than just upper middle class.

that's bullshit, because if you can't ski, then you can't ski. money doesn't buy talent, it brings your talent more oppurtunities.

I can go if I get financial aid and I work my ass off this summber to help pay for some, and thats just to get my parents to consider sending me there.

 
Ok i took a tour of the school when i was vacationing in maine. Obviously all of the kids who go there have a good bit of money cause its over 20,000 a year for HIGH SCHOOL, but they do give ways to make it cheaper. they give out some scholarships and when i was there, two kids who attend the school stayed there all summer and painted like the entire campus. THe thing is they go there because they love to ride, they had a list of all the colleges kids were going to and some were going pro and a ton of the rest were going to colorado mnt. college because they love to ski. Granted they have parents to back them but we all would fucking go if we had the money... so BACK OFFF

I am with Misty7 on this one, although his point of view is skewed by the extreme jealousy. We can hear it in your voice man, you would go in a heart beat if you could. So would I. I am definitely jealous of all the kids that get to go to skiing schools. I didn't really start skiing until about last year, and I am 23 years old. For living on the crappy east coast and just startin I consider myself pretty good. I am so jealous of the people that have been skiing since they were 4.

But, let's not take this out of perspective. 'I am middle middle class' Hell no. Compared to other skiers, sure, your family may gross less than others. I hear you, my mom is an elementary school art teacher, and that is our only income. But, I am still richer than 99% of the world, and that means I am pretty darn well off. Skiing is a luxury, not a right. If people can afford to pay 20K a year for it, all the power to them for wise investment or hard work.

yo, mad people get financial aid (15$ or less to come hear) but i know that there are some extremely rich kids here and some that have to sacrifice everything to come here. i know a kid who's mom sold her car bought a cheaper house and got a new job to come to this school. stop hating because all the kids here are not as priveleged as you may all think. but it's fucking dope i must say..........

The thing I don't like about these ski acadamy kids is that they're coming with coaches to comps like the US Open! At the US Open the coaches were representing the CVA kids trying to get them into the nighttime big air.

I don't want to see teams of kids with coaches coming to FREEskiing events. It makes us more like racers with regimented training and stuff. I liked it that all the top guys like Tanner, Jon Boyd, Steele, Simon and those guys learned freeriding on their own and compete as individuals!

 
the thing i hate most about cva is the coaches, they were littering judging towers at the vt open trying to influence judges desicions. very lame. and yeah, there definately are some stuckup kids coming from there, 'rich wankers' indeed.

i really really wanted to go to CVA, but parents are now paying for sister to go to college and dads making not much at all and mom doesn't even have full time job right now... im looking for job and parents said if i could come up with half... theyd send me.. but, i don't see that happening just because i dont even have a job yet. but if i did end up going, itd be in two seasons.. cuz im just getting my license for next season and parents want me around for that... so whatever grade youd be, if its not a junior or senior this year, i may see ya out there if im lucky. never know... i still haven't even visited.. who knows what'll turn out from it.

I have a few friends that go to CVA and they all like it. Ive heard mixed opinions though. They are wicked strict about everything though. The alps program is pretty sick.
