Cutting to Workopolis ads between pages.

I don't know if its just my computer, but every now and then when i click on a thread, it cuts to an ad to workopolis ads, and then it redirects after a few seconds to the link i clicked on. Is my computer fucked or is this a new site sponsor that i was unaware of?
 
Hasn't happened to me. If that's seriously happening, it needs to stop, that's such an annoying thing to have happen on other websites.
 
yeah screw these guys for selling out its gonna take me that much longer to put up my promotional video im sending to monster!
 
Its not the selling out thing its the annoyance of it. I fucking hate popup ads because my comp is a slow piece of shit and sometimes rape it.
 
yeah ns staff gotta eat but i draw the line at popups. im getting the feeling that NS is being paid for advertising in general but is not aware of or in control of just what ads appear on the site... and that's a problem when shit like this starts happening
 
That's my feeling too, I doubt that any mod accepted to let workopolis throw popups everywhere on the site... still, it sucks.

I need info from everyone...

1) Is it only people using IE that have seen this?

2) What frequency do you see it at?

3) If you have seen this, what country do you live in?

I'm going to get to the bottom of this.

 
This is a whole new level of gay. I hate advertising and this is blowing my mind.

It's been happening to me for the past few days, and only on Newschoolers (which may reduce the likelyhood that its something installed on your computer... its very certainly something from connected to NS).

I use Avant Browser (IE based alternative browser).

FUCK INTERSTITIAL, TIME DELAYED, FULL PAGE, FLASH BASED ADS! FUCK.

(stressful day, sorry)
 
I should also mention that about 10% of the time, when I click on a link on NS, it takes me to the wrong page.

The site is broken

-it happens a couple times during each ns session (just happened to me when i first clicked on this thread in mythreads...although it will probably happen again)

Yeah, for once Netscape's terrible compatibility issues seem to have worked in its favour.

Juuuuust kidding.. ahem
 
M$ recently annouced that IE8 will, as standard mode, be compatible with these 'terrible' browser stands...At least these shitty IE/firefox website conflicts will cease to exist.

 
Have only been able to get it to happen once. Used IE and it happens when you chick away from a page where the workopolis banner ad containing the super hero looking guys is visible
 
noticed that on IE (I don't know what version, it's at school, probably 6) and it appeared like 3 times in about 5 minutes... I'm in Canada too
 
THis is so weird... I've never seen it and we certainly haven't added it to the site.

This is an error... I'm going to get it fixed.

Hah no worries man! I'm not an idiot... I know that popup/re-direct/annoying ads are absolutely not the way to go. Every time I get in an argument about these kinds of things I find myself yelling "What the fuck are we back in 1996? Popups really survived well eh?"
