cutting down poles

i've already broken two pairs of poles this year, but i have some extras in my basement but they're too big for me, so is it possible for me to cut them down or do i have to take them somewhere to do it? if so how do i do it?

hacksaw it, i'm not sure how to put the basket back on though, cuz you'll have to move it up where the pole is thicker.

yah a hacksaw would prolly do it, thanks, but then maybe id have the problem of having a nice little choad of a pole with no point or basket, so the next time i put any force on it it will stick into the snow and snap off

if you can get the grip off, then you're set, you can just hacksaw the top off and put the grip back on, then your basket stays cool.

ahha you guys are idiots. you take the grip off and cut the top off, not the bottom!

let the grip soak in hot water if it doesn't come off easily

yeah hot water is definately key in the whole taking the handle off. get really hot water and it should slide of pretty easy. just remember that the size of the pole after you cut it(hacksaw is fine) is without the handle.

Most shops will do this for free. It takes a few minutes, but to get the tops off, just pull really hard, hot water wont do anything. Measure how tall you want the oples by turingthem upside dow with handles on and place your hand under the basket. Move it up or down to you get the spot right and then measure from that spot to the basket and that is the amount you want to cut off.

I would recomend going to a shop though so you dont end up with poles at different heights. If they won't do it for free, they will do it for a little tree.

hahah i cant believe half u guys thaught of cutting off the bottem , the top comes off easy, put it in a vice and pull and it slides off

^ this dude is right on sizing , then get some mini pipe cutters and your done , i do it @ my shop in like 5 min. , worth the trip

Soke the grip in hot water then put the pole in a door and pull it off... pretty easy stuff... most shops will hook it up for free or beer anyway
