Cut down poles

i broke my damn pole and i am going to hike up the mountain and go ride tommorow so i grabbed my girl friends dads poles and they are long as hell i want to cut them down but i cant get the damn grips off any pointers would be awsome they are cheap scott poles

boil some water and stick the grips in there for like 30 secs. take out twist and pull

its not like i just stole them i asked if i could use them and he said that i could have them he hasnt skied in multiple years, but that boiling water idea sounds like it will work thanks for the tip

well in that case...

boiling water is the easiest. throw dem grips in for a bit, theyll come off easy. then just put em in a vice n cut em with a hacksaw. keep in mind, however, that the grips go all the way down over the poles. ive cut my fair share too short without thinking about this fact. youre better off too long to start than too short.

ive never had ones stuck enough for boiling water. i stick em in a door and have someone hold it shut and pull. just make sure you dont impale yourself when it comes loose directly at your chest
