Customizing Windows XP

Yo, does anyone want to show me how to customize windows XP? I've been staring at the same format/skin since release. I was thinking of getting RocketDock or just changing the colors but I'd like to do more. If anyone has one of those easy to follow guides/sites link it up. Thanks.

vista is like one big virus. Macs would be ok, but you can't really customize a lot. I prefer PCs but I want to get a mac just for the media experience and the easiness of it all.

1. If you wanna change how the taskbar looks. Your gonna need to patch your UXtheme.dll file so you can use non Microsoft themes. google it. but be careful theres alot of crap patches floating around.

2. Download some themes, then create a folder to keep them in. Dont delete the folder. Just double click on the file and it should pop up with a thing asking if you want to apply it.

dont do any of that crap, it will just slow down your comp. Download Zune desktop theme, its by microsoft so it integrates perfectly without the need for second party stuff, and its good colors, black and orange buttons.

windowsblnids made my desktop look exactly like vista but its xp.

I don't get why so many people rag on vista. I just got a new laptop with vista, and I have had 0 problems. Everything is running super smooth, fast, and it looks such much nicer than XP.

some you can just download then run and it goes to it. just make sure you dont delete the microsoft visual file or else you wont have it after you restart your computer next time. dont download the windowsblinds ones, they wont work unless you have windowsblinds.

Ok, so I have ObjectDock right now but I have one little problem. How do I make the docks disappear when I'm in another window/program. Thanks for the help.

i used to have it then i deleted it. i forget what itrs called button on the dock, one icon should be like, customize objectdock or somethi8ng. click on that, then go through the different tabs and check for the thing that says auto-hide dock, or untick the box that says always on top.

^It's called Auto Hide but I don't find it works very well and it won't make my tab bar disappear.

Anyways, does anyone know how I can get my icons to look like Vista icons?
