Custom Pivots

I just copped some fresh on3ps and am trying to customize some pivots to match. I’ve found some info about customizing them but most of it is hydro dipping. Has anyone done this and does it work with spray paint or would I need some special paint, I just don’t want to mess up the bindings. Also if anyone has some customs do they chip and scratch a ton after a while. And also is the process just sanding them down and adding tape to the brakes? lmk what you guys think.

Alot of work goes into doing it right. You gotta disassemble the whole entire shit, and sand it all down really good.

1). take them apart so you have just the metal pieces (if 12 or 14 idk how well the toes can be taken apart, prolly just tape up what you dont want painted)

2). sand paint and protective coating off, does not have to be pretty, better if rough

3). tape up the arms of the dildo, you dont want paint on those

4). paint, I used spray paint, though powder coating would be best if you have the stuff or can afford it (also use primer before paint or a paint primer mix)

5). standard paint rules and whatnot, a bunch of light even coats>a couple heavy coats

6). enamel coating to help protect paint

7). reassemble bindings

8). have a nice cold beer you earned it

1092531.jpegI recently just painted my pivots with rust oleum primer, paint, and clear coat. I did a lot of sanding to make existing chips smooth and to give the primer a surface to stick to. They look great and I’m very happy with them. However spray paint is spray paint and they have already chipped quite a bit after not that many uses. Sanding is essential to get the primer to stick which it does since I see it under all the chips. However I’d say the best option (and a little more expensive) would be automotive air brush paints and clear coat to be as durable as possible.

Those are sooo sick, how did you get that design did you use stencils to design it or just tape it up and do the pink and blue separately.

I painted the blue first then added the purple gradient and did a couple coats of both to make sure the color balance is what I wanted. If you’re talking about the little din marker windows, I made my own custom printouts by removing and scanning the original, creating a template on photoshop to turn any image into a din window at the right scale, printed them out as laminated photos at CVS, and cut them out with a razor blade. Super happy with how that turned out. And I also taped off the little markings for each din under the cutout while painting since I didn’t want to have to redraw those possibly in the wrong spot.
