Custom foot beds

REI- get Sole Softec Ultra. bring your boots and liners, and see what size works. Probably under $30, moldable if you want to, and better than those $300 custom ones. Just great all around...go try them on in store if you want. Otherwise, Evo, but call ahead to make sure a good bootftter is in.

what the fuck are you smoking? By putting the words boot and REI together in a sentience you lose all credibility.
and not to rip on evo, because its a cool shop and all, and a lot of great people work there, but bootfitting really is not their speciality.

and full customs (@ sturts) are $160, not $300, those are orthotics and they are generally not designed for skiing. 70% custom is $125drop-ins are $40.
I have had Joe make footbeds for almost all my heavy duty footwear, everything from ski boots to army boots. He knows his stuff.

SOOOOOOO WORTH IT, i had mine done about 2 years ago, and are still working good, i had them adjusted to fit my new bigger boots this summer and im stoked to try them this year.

Brian at Seattle Ski does awesome work. I've had my footbeds from him since high school and they fucking rock. Again you're gonna have to setup an appointment. I believe it is $100 for the footbed and $40 for the labor. 206 548 1000

If you're gonna drop some coin, you may want to consider going and getting some made by a physical therapist.
I've had footbeds made at ski shops for a long time, but after I had a pair made by my PT, I never once went back to a shop. They did a much more professional job, and told me everything that was wrong with my arch, stance, etc... and fit my footbeds accordingly. The process takes about a month, but is well worth the wait. I don't know if you could swing it, but I got the majority of it paid for by insurance. (Granted I got this done after a knee surgery)

Whoa whoa whoa,

I know that REI has a rep for sucking but things have changed at South Center REI. I'm their custom boot fitter there now and I've been fitting boots for quite awhile. Superfeet are the way to go. The green or red(winter) are plenty good, way better then the sole brand. And custom cork and double cork are the best for shock but stupid expensive. I have brought alot of tools to Southcenter REI including a tool for calculating cantor. REI is a good place to get gear, or order gear if you go to a smaller store like Southcenter. Their garentee is top notch. In the past they haven't had much in the way of custom techs but that is changing. And as far as Sturts, the new store in Tacoma (same employees as before) has three of the best techs in the state. Kenny in the shop and both Chads on boots are by far better then anybody you'll find at EVO, Seattle ski and snoblow, Alpine hut, or anywhere else. If they weren't then their store manager Keith Rollins (Crystal Mtn Freeride Team) wouldn't stand by them.

^Ok now you're going too far by saying they are the best in the state.

Funny after working in the industry around Seattle for several years

I've never heard of them. I'm sure they are good, but don't judge their

work against others who I'm sure you have no experience with. That is

called ignorance

Ignorance is miss reading my post. I said that they are three of the best, not the three best. There are dozens of boot fitters that hold Masterfit and ABB cirtifications. All of which are great boot fitters who can fix most all problems with a proper fitting boot. If you reread my post you will see I didn't judge anybodys work but my own. And my work is good, good enough for people who's reputation is at stake to put their name behind it.

So, if you will, slow your roll skibum. I'm not here to argue with you; I don't take this forum quite that serious. They are great bootfitters, and while there are lots of old school bootfitters with 30+ years of experience, and who know everything there is to know about overlap boots, these other guys(myself included) rock pretty fuckin hard. Thats all.

Cheers!

And about these other shops, all of which are good shops no doubt. Why dont they promote their employees like Sturts? Sturts is pretty proud of the staff they have, and thats pretty important when selecting a shop if you ask me.

The only reason why I would promote REI is because of the perks for members and the garentee they have. It's pretty amazing the length they go for members. Im super happy that they are starting to take snow sports more seriously now. It will take several years, but they are slowly coming around.

if you're ever in mammoth, go to footloose sports, their specialty is bootfitting and orthotics

that is the shop where the custom ski orthotic "superfeet" was invented

they are hands down one of, if not the best bootfitting shop in North America

he, I do spend less time on this website now though.
yes, I asked to be banned so I would focus more on school.

at GRO Brants been doing custom footbeds for over 15 years. He does a great job and we have all new custom footbed machines & such.

Yeah, Grass Roots Outdoor Alliance is pretty known for educating small shops on how to do stuff right. Not sure if they are real active in Washington though. If they are, then I would trust anybody there. You work for the alliance?
