Custom fit ski boots paid for by insurance?

soo ive heard of people who somehow got their insurance to cover custom fitting ski boots. tomorrow i have a physical (LAMEEEE) i have gnarly bone spurs so hopefully i can convince my doctor that this is a legit issue. so if all goes as planned i should have some surefoot boots for a co-pay of like ten bucks.

Hmm I've never really thought of this. Awesome idea bro I definitely wanna see how this turns out

I've heard of this in 2 cases.
1. You have a full time, insurable career skiing like ski patrol, certain levels of ski school, disabled sports.
2. You have posture issues or another problem not caused by skiing in which you can have custom cork beds made that you can put in pretty much anything including your ski books.
I have yet to hear of someone's insurance covering custom boots because of problems caused by the wearing of boots unless they are in a skiing career.

Good luck.

yeah my friend had alot of trouble with his surefoots at first. they need to be broken in for about a month until they are at their prime.

so today was my physical. i got a legit written up, basically prescription, for any custom fit boots. what i have to do now, is fax it to my insurance company and see whats good.

well this is a pretty big stretch. buttttt. i go to colorado mountain college and major in SKI business. so if there is a way i can get my insurance to believe that i need these boots for college then im good. and i actually do have some on snow shit, just like demos and shit like that, but i will play it up like i literally need to ski for college.

chances are slim my man

My parents have very very good insurance, and I wanted to get a custom fit mouth guard for sports (like $450) and they wouldnt cover it, but they would cover a $450 mouth guard for grinding your teeth while you sleep. its pretty stupid that they wont cover something that will actually protect you.

anyway, we just got it and filed it as a night brace for teeth grinding.

but the best deal, and a good fall back plan, is custom orthotics. i got them made for sports and what not because of foot and knee and back problems. they cured EVERYTHING and were absolutely free. AND YOU CAN PUT THEM IN YOUR BOOTS!
