Armada: ok maybe since everyone loves legos, we use Lego plastic in our sidewalls. Who doesn’t love legos?

Wait aren’t they getting rid of the Lego sidewalls? Or am I making that up

I haven’t heard that from anywhere but then again I’m not in taps with what their skis are looking like for the future so maybe. They design their skis so well it’s just disappointing to see such a consistent yet fixable flaw.

Many companies use the Lego sidewall aka ABS. It’s actually the industry standard. I prefer UHMWPE and wood, myself.

I thought I heard they were trying something new. Something about a triangle shape. Might still be made of Lego though... and I think it was on a select few models.

sidewalls are plastic, what else would you make them out of?

Stuff that’s not as brittle. UHMW, 2001 Durasurf, etc. aka stuff that’s used in Icelantic, Vishnu, moment, on3p sidewalls.

so... plastic...?

im just poking fun because i dont know what you're talking about, but im sure its an issue, i dont have the same durability issues with skis anymore because I dont ski park and every armada ski I own has perfectly fine sidewalls.

PLASTIC. FUCKING PLASTIC.

but yeah I think it’s only the ones that touch rails and take impacts on the corners. I also think the fact that the sidewall isn’t one block, but rather sandwiched together by glue, makes it way easier for delaminating and/or cracking.

They actually go very out of their way to not say what they were doing. Probably had their factory nationalized for the war effort tbh.

all I know is their team edits probably looked like this:

Yeah the armada ABS multicolor sidewall is def more prone to separation

Moment switched from UHMW-PE to ABS sidewall a few years back.

Damn looks like I need to brush up on my spec knowledge a little bit. Do you guys make it one solid piece? I know armada has their ABS sidewall pieces kinda sandwiched together and it doesn’t seem to hold up real well.
